A word of advice if I may.
When you light your Burner for the first time, don't have the fire too hot. I remember when I first lit ours, there was that many fumes coming off it, that it set the smoke alarms off in the house.
I think it might be the newly painted metal that causes it.

    Get some windows open.:D

    Sound advice.

Although if you read the destructions, and who does?, it tells you to do small, relatively low heat fires the first few times to cure the paint and any fire cement used.
  • Anyone know if aldi are still doing these?
  • Yes, My local Aldi had them in when i was there on Monday.
  • Thanks ill pop into town and have a look thanks
  • Aldi branch in Havant has about 20 boxes left as of an hour ago.
None in the North End, Portsmouth branch.
  • None at Tamworth, lots of "seasoned" logs that have been left in the rain for last 3 weeks!!
  • Hi all,

So are these ok to use in "woodburning stoves" or are they just for multifuel stoves?

    Many thanks
  • They're ideal for either - but treat as you would any logs, and for best results burn on a bed of ash with air from above rather than below.

I picked up around 10 boxes from a couple of Aldi stores in Cumbria, but sad to say, after having used them I'm not very impressed - they do produce a lot of heat, but I put on in at 7:15pm last night and it had gone by 8:15pm, so lasted about an hour. It did produce a lot of heat in that time.

My hardwood seasoned logs (which I buy from 60 pounds for a 1cm3 bag) tend to last for about 1 3/4 hours on average, although they don't get as hot.

My woodburner is an Aga Little Wenlock. I also tried to in another property with open fire / backboiler and they burnt through in around 45 minutes, although too be fair that fireplace is more aimed at burning coal.

Not really that impressed with how long they last - they also expanded a lot, then broke up in segments.

100kg of these cost me 29.99 and I buy a 1cm3 bag of seasoned hardwood for 60, so these do not appear to be good value.

How many logs do you put in to burn for 1hr 45? And how many heat logs did you use for an hours burn? I probably got about 1.5 hours out of two heat logs with several logs! I think my stove may be hopelessly ineffiecient!

Is buy them again if they have any down here, although I will be in Cumbria for new year so might have a look if I pass an aldi!
