Jeez, due to changes in my life right now. I am having to claim JSA. Have my appointment on monday at 9:40am... Was suppose to be wednesday 31st october. But i never got the text message they supposenly sent to me considering they only have my landline number.

I can see this is going to be hell of a ride!!! Im dreading it.

If I forgot to turn up for work I wouldn't get paid.........

Will you be claiming universal credit? Because if so, these sanctions will also apply to you eventually. I hope that you are never late for an appointment, or cannot meet conditionality for any unforeseen reason, because you will be sanctioned yourself.

I'm sorry to hear that, hopefully it will be really short term.

Can you try ringing previous employers? They may have even something short term for now.

As advised, be careful as the sanctions can rack up quickly. Currently the maximum sanction period is for 3 years.

Will this not backfire on the DWP? What if it was a family with young children and they were to go without benefits for prolonged times, even if the parents forgot to sign on a few times.

Will they not apply for crisis loans which will always be given if children are malnurished and they are sure to never be paid back if there is no benefit to take it out of?

I basically "forgot to sign on". Now they want to stop my JSA for one month. Is this not ridiculous? Or is it just me who thinks this totally unreasonable?

For families with an unemployed parent, JSA will be quite a small proportion of their income.

You can't get a crisis loan if you've been sanctioned - excluded group

Really? They are the only ones I can think of who would need it if the kids are starving and their bellies are swollen.

It would be a bit hard to be late for work. I have a fulltime PAYE job working exclusively from home so not sure why you think I'd be claiming universal credit but what-evah :)
