DO NOT go to a local solicitor.

Whoever you approach regarding a claim won't be able to help you before Christmas i would imagine. Have you spoken to your employers ? How much is the difference between SSP and your salary ? Is there anything you can reduce until after it's all sorted out ? How long do you expect to be off ?

I made a claim in a road accident when i was injured and it wasn't my fault, it took about 6 months to sort out and my insurers put me in touch with a solictor.

Well I was hit in the middle of October and my company paid me my full salary at the end of October. When I contacted then regarding what pay I would receive whilst signed off they informed me that because they had paid me for the last 2 weeks of October, they would be deducting this from the SSP (£85/week) I would receive in November, resulting in me actually owing them. I emailed them giving them all the details and they have passed it on to the HR management team, whom I am waiting to hear from. My line manager and area managers have been supportive, however the financial aspect had not yet been discussed.
I'm hoping I am not going to be off for too much longer, my current sick line is until 20th November but will get reviewed then. A large part of my job involves driving which obviously I won't be able to do for 6-12 weeks, but my line manager has said they can probably find something office based for me to do.

I disagree with this. So many people just stroll out in front of my husband's car assuming that he'll stop. Of course he does, but one day one of these idiots might just misjudge his speed/distance.

Well I didn't stroll out or stagger out on the road drunk or anything. I did look and the driver claimed he did too. Maybe he was on his phone or texting or something I don't know... But there are plenty of "idiots" behind the wheel too.

Surmising what might have happened is NO GOOD. You need FACTS to speak of, not something that MAY have happened.

Yes obviously, my comment was purely in response to another.

I don't understand. If you looked before you stepped out into the road, how come you didn't see a car coming ?

If I knew that then I obviously wouldn't have been hit! It was really busy and it all happened so fast..

But seriously do you really think your comment is very helpful or constructive? I think it's pretty damn rude to be honest. I need help and if your not willing to offer any, please don't hide behind your anonymous screen name and insult me!

Not an insult, a genuine question. A simple explanation would have been ok, you're the one getting worked up .

You've been offered quite a lot of advice, try not to get so defensive.

I think you'll find that everyone has an anonymous screen name on here. Unless your real name is SorePussCat.SadSmiley ?

Maybe, I just find some peoples attitudes generally quite rude on these forums though. All genuine advice is appreciated, some comments are unrelated and just plain rude however
