Reputable compensation company to claim from after an accident?

Claims can take years to settle. My niece was in a motorcyle accident, absolutely not her fault, it was 10 years ago, she received her compensation last year. Don't count on it being settled in weeks, or even months.
I don't understand why you say it's always the drivers fault, people sometimes just step out into the road. You sound as though it could have been as much your fault as the drivers from what you said earlier.0 -

OP has been told by "everyone" that is always the drivers fault if a pedestrian is injured.0 -

Is there really any need for the sarcasm? I came on here hoping to get a bit of advice.. Having enough problems with injuries, work etc, if you don't have anything helpful to say I would rather you bothered someone else thank you0 -

Yeh I appreciate it will be difficult to prove. Not expecting anything soon but knowing where to start if I did have a claim would be a good starting point. I'm starting with my employer anyway so fingers crossed I won't loss my salary while I'm incapacitated.0 -
I only quoted what you said.SorePussCat.SadSmiley. wrote: »Is there really any need for the sarcasm? I came on here hoping to get a bit of advice.. Having enough problems with injuries, work etc, if you don't have anything helpful to say I would rather you bothered someone else thank you
You have still not said who's fault the accident was. It is impossible to give advice without knowing that.0 -

As far as the driver being at fault, well I guess it's debatable. I didn't see him and he didn't see me. Generally if a pedestrian is hit it's the drivers fault though. Pedestrians have right of way. It's what car insurance is for I suppose....
Well this is my answer. If you can advise on a reputable company or how to approach work then that would be helpful. I don't even care about a big pay out or anything I just can't survive just before Christmas on £0.. So any advice on how to avoid loss of earnings would be appreciated0 -

Whoever you approach regarding a claim won't be able to help you before Christmas i would imagine. Have you spoken to your employers ? How much is the difference between SSP and your salary ? Is there anything you can reduce until after it's all sorted out ? How long do you expect to be off ?
I made a claim in a road accident when i was injured and it wasn't my fault, it took about 6 months to sort out and my insurers put me in touch with a solictor.0 -

I disagree with this. So many people just stroll out in front of my husband's car assuming that he'll stop. Of course he does, but one day one of these idiots might just misjudge his speed/distance.0 -

You do seem to be avoiding the question of liability.
Generally pedestrians do have right of way on the pavement, whereas cars will usually have right of way on a road.0 -

Once a pedestrian has stepped onto the road they have assumed right of way. Ask a driving instructor/highway code, etc.
However, having assumed right of way as a pedestrian still doesn't mean that a car hitting you is always the car's fault, i.e., if you decide to jump out of the bushes into an oncoming car.Oh, you wee bazza!0
