Hi,
Thank you to all for the tips and advice so far. I am about to take on a number of banking institutions but just want to check first.....has anyone had any success reclaiming ilegal bank charges from closed accounts?
Thanks again0 -
is there a way of claiming charges from catalogue accounts or store cards or any other people that offer to lend money?
does anyone know?0 -
Yes, catalog accounts and store cards that have penalty charges can be reclaimed.
You can take on most financial institutions to reclaim these charges, but don't try it with governement agencies such as the Inland Revenue!0 -
Hi everyone
I would really appreciate some help. I had four slipped discs, two operations and have been in and out of hospital for the last 6 months. I am still on 25 drugs a day and not feeling great.
I tried to keep on top of my bills but unfortunately was late paying my Virgin Credit Card one month by a couple of days. I was charged £35 late payment fee, I paid that plus my minimum payment for that month two days after it was due.
My question is can I claim it back? I know on the site about claiming bank charges but is it the same for credit cards. I'm new to the site so may be asking a daft question.
Thanks in advance.0 -
Simple answer is yes, follow the same procedure as banks.0

This is my first post but I have been regularly browsing the site for a couple of years.
I have been looking through my old Barclaycard statements and have found that Barclaycard charged me 20 pounds for a late payment in September 2004. I have just phoned them saying that my account is always up to date and that this is the only late payment I have ever made to them and could they refund me the charge. However, they said that it was too late and there is nothing they can do now.
I know that it isn't a lot of money but I am a student and 20 quid is a lot of money to me.
Is it worth sending them the template letter? They could write back saying no and I would feel a bit silly sending them the next letter about court action.
Any advice would be gratefully received.0 -
Try the first template letter. They would lose this case if it went to court, and it would be extremely silly of them not to refund this after your first letter. I'm surprised they didn't do this after your phonecall. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Sorry to sound silly but can we claim back the charges on credit cards before the £12 maximum charge was imposed?
Has anyone ever requested their money back from a credit card company and won?
I have the following credit cards with charges between £20-£40 each prior to Aug 2006.
CitiCards
LloydsTSB
Barclaycard

hi all,
I have tried reading the stickies at the top but its all a bit confusing.
Now my partner has had a credit card for a few years with a balance of about £1000 currently. Anyway hes the worst person for remembering to pay it, hence me always nagging him to set up a direct debit, but anyway over the last few years hes had quite alot of late charges on this account.
He always pays within a few days of the deadline, just most of the time he forgets (sounds silly i know, i am the complete opposite!). He has never not paid anything on a certain month, and most often has only been a day or so late.
Are all these late charges reclaimable? if so, how do we go about getting it back?
Thanks to anyone who can help.
