  • I've had that letter too from GE with regard to a B&Q account. The other B&Q account - they haven't even responded to letter 1 so are getting letter 2 sent to them tomorrow.

    I would keep at them.

    Hi,

I really need some help if possible, I have been going down the reclaiming charges route with one of my store cards. I have been offered a partial offer £112 which is no where near the £1020 I am trying to claim back.

Does anyone know of a draft letter I can use to refuse this offer and what to do next?

Any help or advice would be most appreciated!

Can I ask you who the store card provider is?

I would probably send something along these lines.

    Dear Sir,

    RE. ACCOUNT NUMBER ETC

Further to your letter of (DATE), concerning the above account.

I am extremely dissapointed to note that your settlement offer is only a tenth of the charges applied to my account and I wish to inform you that such an offer will not be considered.

To this end, I now request the full amount claimed, £1020.00 in full and final settlement to be forwarded to me within fourteen days. Once this time period has elapsed, I shall be lodging a case with MCOL for full recovery of the aforementioned charges, together with any and all court costs, fees and interest accrued.

I sincerely hope that such action will not prove necessary and look forward to receiving your cheque by return.

    Yours sincerely,

    Etc, Etc, Etc.

Letter went on 11/09, no reply as yet so I'm putting aside some money as I can see this going via the MCOL route!

Recieved letter today this time offering an aditional £512 - but still not writing all of the charges off and still a fair way off the £1020. Should I accept this or send another letter, or should I MCOL? I'm confused?

    Thanks
  • I would still send another letter before I would go the route of costing myself money. Is this still GE you are fighting?

Hi, no its Barclays Partner finance and I think your right as I could do with it costing me as little money sa possible, im not even bothered about getting the full amount I just want the account paying off.
  • Hi people,

my partner has a store card with GE Capital. she bought stuff on it a few years ago to the value of about £80. since then she has missed payments due to commitments elsewhere and been charged for it. she has paid back about £150 over these 2-3 years but the bill still stands around £220 due to these late payment charges!! when she phoned them and explained she is a student and could they freeze the interest and late payments and arrange some sort of payback scheme they said no!!!! i think its ridiculous that she only spent £80, has paid back £150 but still owes over £200. is there anything she can do to stop these robbing idiots because in my eyes £150 paid back for £80 lent is nearly 100% profit and i dont think they deserve any more!!! any advice or info would be much appreciated

    thanks, Rob
