Hi I have a few late payment fees on my Store card, Is it possible to claim these back? I dont use my store card anymore im trying to pay it off so I dont mind if they cancel it. The only problem is I havent got any statements and I cant view it online so I dont know the total amount ive paid in charges so how do I know what to claim back? Also is there a standard letter for claiming charges back from store cards?
    Thanks

I have wrote to Littlewoods regarding account charges, after receiving a typical 'we believe are charges are lawful' I went to the Financial Ombudsman.

They wrote to me this week stating that Littlewoods have not submitted their final response but would do so within 14 days.

This morning I received a letter from Littlewoods stating that their charges are fair and justifiable !

Now the bit in the letter I don't understand is that because my complaint is in relation to an event before 6th April 07, I am unable to refer my complaint to FOS as they are not a member of a Dispute Resolution Service until this date.

Is this true or are they trying it on ? We have loads of problems with Littlewoods including them not letting us cancel insurance on the account !

Has anyone else been in the same situation or offer any advise ?

Has anyone successfully claimed charges from Studio? I had a huge amount of charges a couple of years back when we unfortunately had a difficult time due to hubbies redundancy, can I claim them back?

Any idea of the address I send to, also its a closed account & I dont know the account number, can I still claim without?

I'd love to hear anyones experiences of claiming from studio.

    Thank you
  • Carriel, I got in touch with studio yesterday about reclaiming the charges via the email contact on their website, but unlike you i still had my account number to hand even though the account had been closed. I did get a standard reply saying they deal with enquiries in the order they are received and they will get in touch soon.

I will let you know what they said when they get back in touch with me, hopefully sooner rather than later. I would have thought they would be able to retrieve your details even though you don't have your account number.

yes, i have just acted for my daughter with studio and got back the lot!!!! it cleared her balance and gave her £100 credit as well. cant be bad. just as they are moving too, which will come in very handy. have to say though that they did argue the toss for a couple of months, but when i said i was going to take them to court, they paid up within a few days of receiving the letter. its easy they are just like another store card really. good luck!!xx
  • Sandraoffey, What charges were you able to claim back with them? i can't even remember how much they charged for non/late payment but i think mine would add up to quite a bit

we started by doing what you do with the banks etc., sent £10 and aksed for a beakdown of all charges applied to the account bla bla, and then added up all the things they charged my daughter for non payment or late payment. not sure now if i also included the so called admin charge they also add on. but if i was you i would add on evrything, if they dont agree they will dispute it. then you can argue. this took a couple of months to sort but we got there in the end. dont forget to send it all by recorded and check the account for PPI. my daughter hadnt realised she had been paying PPI on her studio account until i saw it on the copy transactions sheet. it didnt amount to a lot, less than thirty pounds, but they wouldnt pay it so i asked for a copy of the signed agreement, for it,but they will say that they dont have an agreement in writing because it was all agreed over the phone, which was something my daughter would never have done. so i asked them for a recording of thephone conversation in which she agreed to this insurance. needless to say it never appeared, but it was when i asked for the phone recording that they paid up on the charges!!! good luck. xx

Update on the wifes Debenhams card with GE Money. They've today sent some of the statements requested via her SAR but not all. They have again sent a copy of the original Credit agreement which quite clearly shows PPI is not required.
I've posted what I feel are my options on CAG but would appreciate any advice from the whizz kids on here as I feel what they have done is downright illegal.
Forgive the cut and paste any CAG members.

Option 1 - I work out pro rata what I think they may owe from the statements they've sent together with the missing ones over 13 years.

Option 2 - As Alanalan says I tell them to dig out the rest of the statements and ask them to let me know what they are prepared to offer.

Option 3 - I go to the Ombudsman and tell him that GE Money have for years been taking money off my wife for something they have willingly acknowledged she did'nt ask for.

Option 1 would obviously be the best result for us and is therefore unlikely to happen.

Option 2 puts the ball firmly in their court.

Option 3 I would imagine could possibly lead to a fine as well as a pay off but then again what do I know.

In summary what really riles me is the fact that they will have no doubt tried this on with many customers and in my eyes it is quite simply theft. I say option 1 is the best result for us but is it? This would mean that they can have a go at perpertrating this theft in the knowledge that, should they get found out, they simply have to pay the money back giving them in effect a no lose scam. Sorry if I'm seeing this a little too black and white for everyone but as far as I'm concerned this is what it comes down to and I think they should be held responsible for their illegal actions.
  • Does anyone know if I can claim charges for store card and credit card charges.

About 3 years I became ill, and lost my job and i had 2 store charge cards and a account with littlewoods and a lloyds tsb credit card. I went to the CAB and while they were helping me sort out arrangements to pay reduced payments I did receive a lot of charges on these accounts. Most of them did in the end stop the interest. Littlewoods did not stop the interest, so i was paying a reduced payment of £5.00 a month but receiving £20.00 a month in interest charges. I did manage to pay all these accounts of when I sold my house, but I was wondering if i could claim back any of the charges that where added to my account and the littlewood interest charges that I had to pay as i ended up owing more money than the original debt.
