  • Hiya Steve,

Nope same letter as bank charges just adjust the wording slightly to suit - ie. omit the overdraft fee bit and replace with late payments and so on :)

    Good Luck! :money:
  • i would just like to know if it is possible for me to claim on my evans account card i have noticed that i get charged £31.74 each month for this cover i have tried to phone g.e money and they have told me that it is not that kind of insurance i feel as though i have been fobbed off, can anyone help or is it worth sending a letter to see if i can claim any money back. If i can does any one know the address.
    thanks :j
  • Just so others don't make the same mistake that I have and waste their time.
I sent a complaint against G.E Money for a couple of store cards to the F.O which was received 10th September. After several phone calls and letters keeping me 'updated' over the last 2 months, I today received my claim form back saying that they don't deal with store card claims that originate before April of this year.

Annoyed that they didn't tell me sooner and indeed told me in letter and on the phone that it was being dealt with and I have just wasted all this time.

Please be aware of this if thinking of going down this route.
  • I had a store card which also had a cash card and cheque book. Everytime I was late with a payment or went over the credit limit I was hit with a fee, to make it worse interest was added to these charges.

I have written a letter to the provider asking for my money back, they replied no as the OFT has restricted its investigation to store cards.

Has anyone had any success claiming back store card charges?

I think your store card are fobbing you off, sadly. You need to write the letter that Martin recommends, worded exactly as he says it, along with the £10 cheque, registered post. This will get you all your statements, then you can go through and find all your charges.

It is imperative that you do it exactly as Martin says because it is a point of law. The law in this case is on your side, make the most of it.

    As at 30/11/07!

Successfully reclaimed charges from Barclaycard, A+L in my sights now.

    All debts interest free now!

  • Thanks, I sent Martin's letter but they declined, I will try try again.
  • I got mine back from Adams and am waiting to hear from BHS and Debenhams after receiving a 'we are investigating' letter if that helps.
  • Hi, i sent off for my statements using the letters for reclaiming bank charges, to reclaim my store card charges. after following all the letters, i recieved all of my charges back for my Burton & DP store cards.
  • So if I am understanding Angel's post correctly the F.O. does not assist with store card charges.

This is a little disappointing from the F.O. The charges are still charges even though they are not on a credt card and are disproportionate and totally unfair.

The only thing to do is fight on. and get my money back.
  • Can anyone advise on the do's and dont's of storecard reclaiming? I've just been told the FOS don't investigate these for you. Can someone advise of the procedure? Many thanks.
