My wife has a Debenhams Gold Card which she's had for years. Anyway I've noticed they charge her £1.50 for every £100 on the card for something they call account cover. Can anyone tell me if this is the same as PPI as they've charged her a small fortune over the years.

    Thanks in Advance.

Thanks for the reply but I'd alreay seen this. I just thought this was another name for PPI and my wife is sure she didn't sign anything to say she wanted it. I think they only changed it over from a store card to a credit card about 18 months ago.

Account Cover costs 1.5p per £1 of your monthly statement balance. That's £1.50 per £100. Should you wish, you can opt to take out 'Balance Cancellation Cover' only. Just 'Balance Cancellation Cover' costs 1.25p per £1 of your monthly statement balance. That's £1.25 per £100.

She didn't opt for anything unfortunately it's one of those if you don't read it properly we'll think you want it clauses. Still think it's PPI so I'll send off for her statements.

I think this lot got in trouble with the FOS last year for switching these to a credit card so she may have a shout.

Hi all! Well i sent my letter to GE money requesting a list of charges so we'll see how long it takes them to respond. They have 40 days so that takes us to 19th may.

1.Can you claim back penalty charges on store cards?
    2. If so has it been put on hold with bank charges?

I’m aware credit card reclaiming is ok at the moment but I’m not sure if that went for store cards as well. So any help with above questions would be greatly received thanks!

Yes you can. I did this successfully last year. Just write to the head office of the card provider in exactly the same way as you would to a cc company.

Just got the details of my wife's account back for her Debenhams Card. I assume I must be missing something here because I can't believe what they sent back.
A photocopy of the credit agreement from 1995 signed by my wife.......wit for it. On which it clearly shows a tick against the I do not require Payment Protection. It's as clear as the nose on your face. So now I'm totally lost. As mentioned I'm looking to reclaim this Payment Protection so why would they send me a photocopy of a document that in effect says we've been taking it for 13 years anyway. Am I missing something or have they made a bit of a !!!! up in sending her this info.
