Can anyone advise on the do's and dont's of storecard reclaiming? I've just been told the FOS don't investigate these for you. Can someone advise of the procedure? Many thanks.

Please read Martin's guide on Credit Card reclaiming as much of this applies to store cards:

hi all, has anyone had any experience of claiming back from Next? thanks.
  • Hi - I've done the bank charges, the credit card charges and the mortgage fees but what about store cards, I've written to FCUK and they keep comingback saying they are completely exempt from the whole charges issue, something to do with the consumer credit act? anyone got any thoughts? I'm on a DMP and they have doubled my debt through changes since I started a year ago.

It doesn't matter if you are a student, the procedure is the same. Claims against credit cards & store cards are still straightforward and are not affected by the test case so they will not be put on hold.
How long? About as long as a piece of string, thats about the best guess anyone can make.

I had a store card with Evans, which I defaulted and then GE Money took over. They hassled and hassled me with their constant phone calling at least 3 times a week, whenever I was not able to make a payment. Eventually I cleared the balance in full thankfully in 2006 and destroyed their **** card!

I have all my statements though and now want to claim back on the late payment charges and interest that they added, which after my calcuations totals to £608.27.

Please can someone tell me who do I send my letter to, GE Money or Evans? and has anyone had any recent sucess with either.

Does anyone know whether you can reclaim charges from store cards eg Next in same way as Credit Card charges?

Yes, store cards are credit cards (the only difference is that they can't be used at other shops). So the process to reclaim the charges is the same as any other credit cards.

    Hi Monica,

I had the same issue. I had an evans store card, but my late payment letters where sent by GE Money.

To answer yours and my own question I wrote to GE Money on the 27th March 08 requesting repayment of the penalty charges that they had applied to my account. I got an written response from them with an offer on the 5th April and received their cheque yesterday. They responded very quickly. So I would suggest that you start with them, using the template letter that Martin wrote.

Sned your letter to their address at: GE Money, P O Box 700, Leeds, LS99 2BD.

If you want them to send you a schedule of your statements though, write to them with a £10 cheque at: Credit Management Team, GE Money, P O Box 700, Leeds, LS99 2BD.

To clairfy you can call them on 0870 125 2515 ask to speak to their credit management team.

    Good Luck !
