Hi,
i just got charged the other day on my Credit card for going over my credit limit.
can i claim back this Overlimit Fee. Thanks0 -
I have submitted a request to Capital One for unlawful charges to be refunded and have received an offer of a partial refund (They will refund me £8.00 from each of the £20.00's I've paid and quote the OFT Ruling). Has anyone pursued them further and managed to get all of their charges refunded?0

There is a sectioon on https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk for other institutions, below the bank forums. Quite a few have claimed off Studio Cards as well.0

Hiya...
Only just stumbled over this forum today and I'm amazed..
Thank you to everyone for the advice and experiences they are sharing.
I've just written off a letter to Halifax, enclosing £10 to request info etc.
I've also written a letter to Tesco re late penalty charges....did not enclose any cheque but when I phoned them asking for an address because I wanted to request a couple of statements (did not state why) they said they charge £3 per statement.
Has anyone else written to Tesco Credit Card and had any luck without paying out £3 for every statement ?

Make it clear that you are making a request under the Data Protection Act (DPA). You are not just requesting duplicate statements. Under the DPA they can make a charge of £10 for furnishing you with the information they hold about you.0 -
Hi all,
I just wanted to check to see if late payments on a credit card are also covered by this, or is it just charges on being overdrawn?
Thanks

Not too sure if credit cards are covered by the same sort of thing as the bank accounts but i did manage to get a £12 refund for a late payment with tesco credit card. Last month they told me no they would'nt waver the late payment fee this month i asked again and they said ok. Because I'm only using them for the 0% balance transfer and the money's sitting in the bank i was going to tell them to get lost and close the account. But they wavered the fee in the end. Thats what we all should do if in position to do so - go else where if banks dont value your custom by applying silly charges.0

Please read above, it has already been confirmed that any penalty charges can be reclaimed from current accounts, store cards and credit cards0 -
I have been following the progress of this issue for a while now and have finally decided to consider doing this. However, I am worried about one issue in particular.
I note from some stories of people reclaiming bank charges that it's advisable for people to open up an alternative bank account as theirs may be closed as a consequence of this action.
I wondered if this is applicable to credit cards. I assume it's worth a try with respect to late-payment and overlimit fees but am concerned that if I try this and am successful that they would ask me to settle the account immediately (which I would be unable to do)
Any advice would be appreciated.

Could you set up another credit card - 0% balance transfer, or low APR for life of balance -then promptly move balance. Do not use card for new purchases, as you will often have to pay off transferred balance before you are able to pay off new purchases (thus getting charged interest on new purchases) Hope this is clear. Also be aware, there could be a fee for this, which could negate any charges you have coming back.
Hope this is clear.0
