MSE News: Comet in administration

I've had a bit of luck but need some advice please. Comet tumble dryer order cancelled at 14:30 Fri, money returned to giftcard, rushed to local store, store manager closed store as I was in there at 15:00, but gave me a couple of minutes to grab something to the value of the giftcard, with the idea of exchanging it for something I actually wanted the next morning.
Sat morning - no exchanges, as now in administration .
So, I now have a sealed in box, top of the range IPAD3 (64GB/4G). Do I sell now on Gumtree at 10% discount, or hold fire and hope that the administrators will relax the exchange policy? Do I have any legal grounds to insist on a credit note?0 -

well for 100% sure they will not exchange, firesales never do exchanges, because that would be stock they can not relist, the funny thing is they are STILL selling comet gift cards in some retailers and the retailers ain't even warning customers about comet going bust, and if u live under a rock or dont even pick up a newspaper you wouldnt know comets gone bust
and a credit note will do you no good, scroll up at my other post, i have a 11grand replacement card for comet, they wont accept it, slammed door in my face when i tried0 -
Why would anyone want to buy in the "Fire Sale", with all the hassle on warranty/soga in the future.?0

Walked past a store yesterday and two workers were outside moaning that nobody is buying. I went in to see if the sale had started and happened to be messing with an Apple Mac. The sales guy asked if he could help. I asked him why anyone would want to spend full price when there is no comeback if it was faulty. He had no answer
Still can't believe people are thinking of buying at full price from comet
I urge anyone who has bought to get a refund0 -
I've been reading through and think I'm ok but wanted to ask u guys just in case I'm wrong. I bought my tv in July and took 5yr warranty, but opted to pay for the warranty on 4 payment 3 months apart. I've made 1 warranty payment already, next one is due out DD on tues. the warranty is with the warranty group based in Isle of Wight which someone mentioned earlier in thread is a separate company. Is my warranty safe or do I cancel DD?Living half in debt, half in denial
At the bottom of the hole....pass the rope and hoist me up!!0 -

your warranty is with domestic and general so should be fine, all that i can imagine is now, if you ever use the warranty and the item is BER, they will simply give you replacement from a different company, currys maybe, or give you a credit note redeemable at a different company, like eg currys0 -
My daughter is one of many who are still arguing over an extended warranty, so seeing Comet's new public page on Facebook made me very angry.**Welcome to our New Facebook page.
We will be opening up for business on 25/11/2012. We promise to be more effective with our services & will provide our customers with an even better shopping experience.** My daughter shared her dreadful experiences with Comet customer 'care', on Facebook some months ago, and merely updated the page yesterday with the recent news about Comet's demise. Several people started commenting on this old article, and soon became abusive, also liking each others post. My daughter reported the abuse to Facebook.
When I looked at the public profiles of these posters they were from the same company. This company just happens to be listed on the public Comet Facebook page as 'another member of their 'fresh' retail family'. How low can Comet and their new fresh retail family go?0 -
