  • I called to check what the balance was on a gift card I had at lunch time today and got a balance. :cool2:

I called a short while ago and got a message saying the balance could not not be found. _pale_

Guess that's game over for Gift Cards then.

I went to 3 Comet stores after work and saw loads of people going up to the closed doors to read the notices. Nothing on them about Gift Cards.

Will try again in the morning.

I've checked my service plan agreement for the washing machine purchased around June last year (checking as the bearings sound like they are on the way out), and it says the service plan is provided by a company called "Warranty Group Services (Isle of Man) Limited".

Still valid or is now just a worthless piece of paper?

I certainly hope so. I'm just very suspicious that its a rouse to buy time. I reckon they brought in the administrators at 5pm on Friday to stop gift card holders from using them over the weekend. :(

From the BBC website at 8.20pm Friday:

However, when asked on Friday about whether gift vouchers and deliveries would be honoured, Deloitte told the BBC that they "don't have the answers yet" and it was too early for them to say.

Just caught the tail end of the local news. It said that stores closed early yesterday (Friday 2nd) for stock checking and that gift cards and vouchers have been suspended. I hope I heard wrong as I've got vouchers to use :(

Twitter is full of people complaining that vouchers are not being accepted this morning. Hardly "business as usual" then!
  • Went to my local in slough
    Heaving in there
No discounts whatsoever and signs saying so
No consoles and console games found

Shelves were pretty bare to be honest
    Feel for staff losing jobs

Exactly the same in Torquay, slightly disappointed. Am guessing a lot of people were hoping for the same as the store seemed busier than usual!
  • I did see Comets version of these tassimo coffee pod holders
    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8429803.htm

Exactly the same just a different box.
    Argos - £6.99 normal price
    Comet - £19.99
