You could try calling in a Comet store with a number of tooled up friends and take goods to the value of in lieu of your payment.
Any resistance there is the threat of violence which should hold you in good stead.
Maybe the same at 4:30 am by smashing through one of their plate glass windows .... however you must be very careful of shards of glass ensure that you smash them away with a piece of scaffold pole or similar implement.
This can not be regarded as theft as they have your money.
That is a very good and effective suggestion rickbonar. Use you primal instincts and go into the store and use threats of violence against members of staff who have no control over the situation expecting them to give you something they can't. Very clever! :sarcasm:
Even if you've used a debit card, so long as it is a VISA, you can still file a chargeback claim. Uninformed staff in bank branches may tell you otherwise however having persisted with Halifax, they sent me chargeback forms for an issue I had last year and I managed to claim a charge of £95.
When a company is in administration it is illegal for them to take cash out, even for outstanding orders. Hence comet are only offering exchanges on faulty goods. My advice to you would be, if you haven't been refunded for an outstanding order and they've confirmed you won't receive it, request for an exchange and buy something else. I know this probably sounds silly but this way you will have something back rather than nothing.0 -
i rang the company, suprise, lined dead, on both numbers i had, and i have a £11,254 replacement card which i got on thursday, went to use yesterday and boom, doors slammed on my face
Woah! £11k..and I thought the £2.5K I had/have on my gift cards was bad.
I actually tried to spend mine on thursday night but there was a problem with one of the cards where they incorrectly expired it (with £1000 on it). Was told to come back the next day where they would sort it out with the gift ard people during office hours. Came back the following morning at 9.30am and the doors were already shut.
With hindsight should have picked up something with the cards that did work the night before.
Never thought I would be caught out like this - it always happens to someone else doesn't it...
Here's hoping for a miracle.0 -
I bid on an auction on the comet auction site last week. After the site had been closed down on the weekend I got an email yesterday afternoon saying I had won the auction. I am guessing that as I cant log into the site to complete the payment within 24 hours of 'winning' my £36 quid bid on a dishwasher will be too good to be true! - Interestingly though their terms and conditions say that a sucessful bid consitutes a contract to purchase but I bet it doesnt work both ways.....been trying to call them all morning 'just in case'....0

I chose a more expensive model (Stoves) and paid the extra £240 on my debit card. They said they would do the refit for free as I bought it less than a year ago.
am I now likely to be stuck with the faulty one? It is still under its original warranty. I think i bought it in Jan 2012.
I'd appreciate any help. They are meant to deliver my cooker on 10th november. Thanks
I got through to Comet today and they said my order won't be delivered and I won't be refunded.. they advised me to contact Citizens Advice. well they are never open so it's a bit hopeless and £240 just lost.:(0 -

The sales guy asked if he could help. I asked him why anyone would want to spend full price when there is no comeback if it was faulty. He had no answer
Still can't believe people are thinking of buying at full price from comet
I urge anyone who has bought to get a refund0 -

Ironically I work at both comet and volunteer at CAB. I strongly advise those with outstanding orders to go into their local stores and request exchanges for alternative products that are available in store. It is likely some stores will be closed in the coming weeks. I can't comment further on the matter but I will stress again, request an exchange for outstanding orders, refunds are not allowed. In the unfortunate circumstance the company should enter liquidation, customers with outstanding orders will be considered as creditors however priority is given to secure creditors and those who hold a floating charge. So the likelihood of you claiming full value refund will be very slim.
The above advice is given from the perspective of a law graduate and not from my capacity as a comet employee or CAB advisor.0 -

If you buy Apple products your warranty is with Apple, not Comet, quite simply you register it with Apple on their website; if you have any faults you return it to them directly, or one of their service providers. It's pretty shocking their sales staff do not know this?! In fact, this stands for a lot of products, my 5 year warranty for my TV is with Panasonic directly.0 -

Try contacting your bank - if your card has the Visa logo then you could well find you can get a refund through your bank.0 -
Comet delivered a Panasonic fridge freezer for me on Friday which cost £600. Doesn't work. Went to the store they won't do anything and neither will Panasonice who argue it is Comets responsibility. Comet suggests Citizens Advice !!!! What are my rights? Though yoou get 12 month guarantee automatically0
