Why did Panasonic not cover it under warranty? Did you call them on 0844 844 3899?0

Comet delivered a Panasonic fridge freezer for me on Friday which cost £600. Doesn't work. Went to the store they won't do anything and neither will Panasonice who argue it is Comets responsibility. Comet suggests Citizens Advice !!!! What are my rights? Though yoou get 12 month guarantee automatically
panasonic should deal with this, reagrdless of if you contact comet and panasanic, if it is still under the 12m manufacturers warranty the item is covered. take apple products for example, majority of people go directly to apple rather then the retailer because there turn around is more or less instant. long as its within warranty its covered,0 -
Except, you have no legal contract with Panasonic.
If Comet "brought out" the aftersales service (repair, help, etc) from Panasonic in order to get it cheaper then why should Panasonic be paying twice (They lost money from supplying it to Comet at a cheaper price, and now having to pay for aftersales support).
This is the problem if a retailer goes bust, Manufacturer warranties may or may not be honoured, especially if a retailer has gone bust and not paid their supplier (like Panasonic) and then expect them to carry out any repairs.
People may say, don't worry it's fine, manufacturers will support the products. But the fact is, they are under no legal obligations to do so and you may have to pay for labour, or shipping costs (a manufacturers warranty can cost you money instead of the SoGA where the retailer has to support that). Also a manufacturer may just decide that they don't want to support any product brought from comet as it is no longer a authorised retailer (and the manufacturers T&C usually state they can stop cover for any reason without warning).
Again, you have no legal contract with the manufacturer, only against Comet, those manufacturer warranties can be withdrawn at any time without notice.0 -
In fact, this stands for a lot of products, my 5 year warranty for my TV is with Panasonic directly.
May I ask was your TV bought at Comet ?
Having just read the post from CoolHotCold I'm curious as to whether Comet " bought out " the service from Hotpoint / Indesit to buy into stores more cheaply.
I rang Hotpoint but they would not comment on Comet.0 -
The administrators of the electrical retailer Comet have said gift vouchers bought by members of the public can once again be used at stores, two days after suspending them.

Heard the news about the vouchers and ran to the store as fast as I could run tonight. Got there at 8.45pm just before they closed - the staff knew nothing about it
. Will try again tomorrow
