thanks, although very wary of amex0

Has anyone else found that retailers are listed on the website, but don't have a 'special' on their foursquare page?0
-
This small business thing was also a big launch for Amex acceptance as well, they got new merchants to actually sign up to take Amex by telling them they would be encouraging customers to come to their store etc.0

I always have my Mastercard, as backup, Amex not everywhere, the 3 today, are just having it installed, takes a while for it to operate, even though Amex show on thier map, it,s ok, and several, that don,t exist anymore.0 -
Hi Pete, when I first registered my cards, it asked if I wanted to sync with foursquare, but I didn,t as I knew nothing about foursquare.

There's an option to sync with foursquare at amexshopsmall.co.uk (apologies, can't post the link)
never come across foursquare before.
PS Just had fish and chips and mushy peas for 70p, I thought it would only apply to the resteurant, but, the take away part of it does it, so 2 more lots to go.

It's funny, even with a free fiver to spend, there are just some shops that I can't be bothered to buy anything from.
I work quite close to Oxford Circus, and there are loads of shops near my office that are on the list, including several souvenir shops. I assumed there would be some tat that I'd be willing to walk away with, but honestly couldn't find anything. Tea in a phone booth, postbox, or Big Ben (Elizabeth Tower) canister, key chains, pens or pencils? Just couldn't be bothered.
Places that I have found useful though are lunch places and newsagents. Just found this offer a few days ago and have used it successfully (with e-mail confirmation) at the following places, and cost before discount
- Chipotle (Burrito's/Tacos - Lunch was about £7 before discount)
- Benito's Hat (Burrito's/Tacos - Lunch was about £7 before discount)
- Bagelmania (20p add for card use) - Breakfast bagel & Latte for £5.25 )
- Flat Planet (flat bread/pizza - Lunch and drink for takeaway was £6.30)
- Kingsly News (Newsagent - 50p add for card use)
- Postcard Teas (Loose leaf teas - 50g and canister for £6.95, but could pay less)
- Wok to Walk (Noodles in a box - lunch and drink for £6.50)
- Rupert Supermarket (£5 minimum spend before 50p charge for card)
- Benjy's (20p add for card use. breakfast muffin and large latte for £5.08)
- Patisserie Valerie!-Old Compton Street (Gift pack of flavoured syrups £6.99)
Shops that said they don't take AMEX
- Castle News (Newsagent - Eastcastle)
- Regent News (Newsagent - Beck Street)
- I Camisa & Son (Small Italian Grocery store/deli - Old Compton Street)
Shops that took AMEX but credit didn't track:
Pierre Herme in Selfridges (As I suspected going into it, even though the shop is listed on the website, the transaction appears as 'Selfridges.' I could contest it, but instead I think I'll just visit the standalone shop in Belgravia.)
Anyone else near Oxford Street / Soho want to share and compare good finds?
Edited to add:
I will keep updating this post to include other uses/experiences in Central London0 -

I work in Belgravia and it's the same here. I could get £5 off a £4000 bedside cabinet but it's not quite the same as Singapore Noodles for £5.80 - £5
Newsagents, pharmacies, take aways and bars are the real wins for me, places I can get stuff I actually need (and also beer)0
