It is nice but it's where you draw the line with 'generalised' texts like that. Tbh I probably wouldn't reply if I don't feel it really needs an answer. Also there is the fact that with some people they honestly will text all day (too much time and free text packages!) - you can never get the last word so when do you stop texting them back? This is the kind of conversation I can get drawn into if I'm not careful (loosely based on the OP's sister's text but also quite typical of some of my friends!)
Them: 'it was lovely seeing you today'
Me; 'you too'
Them: 'aww, thanks hun, it was a good day'
Me: 'yes, it was'
Them: 'we'll have to go back to that place, the cake was yummy'
Me: 'yeah it was good'
Them: 'I want cake now, am gonna go look for some recipes'
Me: 'that's nice'
Them: 'something like lemon drizzle maybe, I wonder if I have eggs in'
and so on, and so on - until I have no credit left on my phone from sending 2-3 word replies to their random musings, have wasted about 2 hours that I could have spent in much better ways and just can't be bothered with them anymore when they could have just rung me if they wanted a full length conversation. OP, I'm not saying your sister is like that but if you have to be 'polite' and answer every text and then the other person has to be 'polite' and answer every text you send them back it can go on forever :rotfl:
that has made me chuckle.... She is here now, I have just shown it to her
They have been friends for donkeys years and she have stated, maybe she is being silly and these quotes everyone is saying is really true:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -

If I had free texts then I'd reply unless it wasn't convenient at the time. Probably wouldn't bother going back to it later if it wasn't convenient to reply when I read it.
If your sister wants to check everything is ok with this friend then I think she should send a text with a specific question in it.
hi all
just an update my my sis. Friend still haven,t replied back from2 weeks ago and she sent another text on friday with " Fancy coffee next week or the week after"?? No reply back and she is aware this person has texted other friends cause they told my sis.
Really wish she does as it is starting to make her a bit ott and moody.
HELP?:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -

maybe this has been covered already - but is there a reason why your sister can't call her friend and sort out a coffee and a chat?0 -

Sorry, this is of no help to the OP, but wanted to share my nightly pointless text conversation that I have with my mum.... complete with her actual punctuation.
Mum: Hello Ok
Me: Yes thanks, you?
Mum: Ok
Every night without fail she texts me. Sometimes it's preceeded by:
Mum: Boo!
Me: Aaaggghhh!!!
Mum: Hello ok?
I'd like to point out, however, that I have unlimited texts and we do see each other quite often.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
I've gotten rubbish at replying to texts since getting my new phone, I really cannot get along with the on-screen keyboard but I can't afford to change phones (and like the other features). I hung on to my old phone with its slide-out keyboard for as long as possible but when it stopped ringing when peopel called me I had to go for an upgrade. Killed what texting-social-life I had!0

Badly worded. I could certainly afford to downgrade but it would be incompatible with a lot of the apps etc. nowadays (that's what happened to my old phone). I just couldn't afford to try out another brand new phone to see if I got along with it better. Disappointed that everyone (except Blackberry, which I don't like) has gone down the touchscreen route nowadays, I just can't get along with it at all!0
