I tend to reply to texts when I read them...if I can. My job is very busy and as a teacher/youth worker I can't use my phone infront of the kids. But I do always reply as soon as poss.
My new man friend however takes days to reply to texts and it can be very frustrating for me! But he warned me at the start he was crap at texting, and due to the nature of his job (forces) he often has no access to his phone or no signal.* Rainbow baby boy born 9th August 2016 *

If I receive texts (which contain nothing urgent) when I am genuinely too busy to reply, more often than not I forget to reply when I am no longer busy

It can take me a couple of days to check my phone for texts
, so if anyone wants me urgently they really need to call my mobile, because its only friends and family who have that number. 0 -
drives me mad when peopledon't answer texts or you can halfway through a converstion and they just dissapear, it's just rude. If you don;t want to answer texts , don't give out your mobile number to people!!!
I have a 3 yr old , 5yr old , work 35 hours a week and got to college 10 hours a week. If i can manage to remember to answer someone then anyone can!0 -

but you see, I don't use my mobile for text conversations, never have, its an alien concept to me. Anything requiring more than 2 texts each way and I'll call the person instead of texting them.
What drives me mad (and I'm not saying you do this madison) is people who constantly check their mobile, text or answer their mobile for a chat when they are out in company with others. That, to me, is rude.0 -

I agree on people checking, texting, talking on their phone when they are with others is rude. i don't do that. Most of the time my phone is on vibrate/silent when i'm working or with friends etc. so i'll answer when i get a chance but it's always with an hour or two. never understand how people can take 2/3 days to reply to someone?!0 -

I have a neurological condition, sometimes typing on the ohone is extremely difficult. It also impacts on language, this is so much harder on a phone with the way the letters are on the keys....it makes being coherant very difficult.
It can easily take me three days (or more) to return non urgent texts/calls. Mobiles to me are telephones, and sometimes the phone is hard for me too, that's why email is the ticket for me.0 -

maybe they are folk like me who don't tend to have their mobiles near them and only check them every couple of days? ie if no-one calls me on my mobile, its usually in my bag, which gets dumped on a chair as soon as i get home, and which doesn't get picked up again until i'm leaving the house for work the next morning. If I don't hear my phone ring, I don't get it out of my bag generally.0 -
I rarely reply to texts. Whatever happened to actually talking to someone. I also can't abide text speak, that certainly never warrants a response.0

I don't get many texts, being of the "older generation", so I'm quite excited when I do get one, and tend to answer at the first opportunity (i.e. not if I'm in the middle of a shop!).
What I don't do is retrieve voicemails, as I refuse to go through the initial rigmarole to set it up, and also I'm not going to pay to listen to unwanted drivel. If someone I know wants me they will text and I'll call them back as soon as poss.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
