Now you see why, as soon as sellers notice that a buyer leaves a poor star without contact- they start reporting them to ebay. Ebay have promised us that these reports will be used against buyers- but frankly none of us are holding our breath. I take the precaution though of blocking any buyer who leaves me a 3* or less.
But ebay tell sellers off when they report buyers who have left low stars as the seller should not have been running reports to find out which buyer left the low stars?0 -

word it carefully, use 'I believe' this buyer has left poor stars' rather than 'I know this buyer has'.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. how can you run a report, and find out what buyer left what star rating?Work to live= not live to work0

In your 'detailed seller ratings report' run reports in batches of 10 by item number.
When you have a batch of 10 which shows one or more low stars run reports replacing each item number in the 'bad batch' one by one by another item number which you know was good until you find the item that the low stars are attached to.
It is slightly laborious but works!0 -
I've had a buyer leave me two malicious low stars because I opened a NPB case after waiting 5 days for them to pay.
Is it better to ring ebay or use the report a buyer button to try and get them removed?0 -

I prefer live chat.
Keep at them - if they are allowed to retaliate the whole process falls apart.0 -
Very useful thread, thank you! I too did not understand the importance of the star ratings.
I have 4.87 on all but P&P charges which is 4.53 in the last 3 months for the last year P&P is back up to 4.86.
After having 3 fairly high priced items get lost in the post in January I have added recorded delivery to higher priced items so I am guessing this is the cause of the now lower rating on the P&P charges so looks like I will have to remove recorded delivery and take a risk again.
I have only sold about 25 items this year as its just stuff I no longer need/want so slightly worried I might find myself with a problem in a few months when older stars start dropping off.0 -

How many actual lows 1 or 2 * in p and p do you have?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
