I'm surprised you are below standard, I thought you had to exceed both 1.00% and count of 3?0

I've been a buyer and seller on ebay for about 8 years although usually more buying than selling - it's my first port of call when looking to buy almost anything.
I've never really taken much notice of the whole 'seller dashboard' thing because I only sell a few bits every now and then but having now found this thread I'm feeling really bad because I know that on occasions as a buyer I've marked something as less than 5* but not realised this would have a detrimental impact on the seller because I left positive feedback. I've not marked anything as 1* or 2* but just assumed that anything above 3* would be 'satisfactory'.
Now I know better I shall treat 5* as satisfactory. I really do think there are a lot of buyers out there like me who think they're ebay savvy but who don't realise the impact of leaving less than 5* for regular sellers.
Thanks Soolie and everyone for the information. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -

You're so right - was talking to a friend the other day and was horrified to discover that she has NEVER given 5* on ebay. As far as she was concerned, if everything goes as it should do with no problems on either side then she gives 3*. Lower stars are given if she doesn't think the goods are value for money or they take a long time to arrive (she makes no distinction between dispatch time and postage time).
She reserves 4* for exceptional service (i.e. arriving faster than advertised) and she thinks 5* would be for something like putting a free gift in the parcel!!
After I'd recovered my equilibrium I put her wise - she was genuinely shocked and thought that ebay should explain the significance of the star system a lot better than they do at present. In the meantime she has promised to change her ways :T0 -
I don't leave star ratings as I don't believe in participating in a system I believe to be completely crooked.
Not only that but it doesn't seem to me to even work as eBay say it should. On my "About me" page, I have 4.7 stars for dispatch time, including 14 transactions over the last 12 months.
On the "Seller dashboard", it says my rating is 4.33 based on 10 transactions in the last 12 months (with one "low" rating). This would imply that almost everyone else gave me 5 stars ... but also, how come the disconnect between the two??
It's the same time period, but they are counting fewer transactions for the dashboard than for my "About me" page - and penalising me as a result? Bizarre!!
The dashboard also marks me as meeting the "low DSR" requirement for dispatch despite being at 10% low DSR! Well, I'm not complaining, but doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the whole thing.
I still have a giggle every time I look at my "About me" page though, because apparently I am a top 10,000 reviewer on the basis of the level of appreciation that has been shown for my review entitled "Why 'Detailed Star Ratings' are a waste of time" ...For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -

You can check which month low ratings were received and see when some are going to drop off..0 -

If the PayPal address has any connection with your account then he will eventually be banned as well. He will need all different details including different IP address, geographic address and bankI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Haven't read all the posts so dunno if it has been mentioned but I've just noticed the title of this says exanded dashboard not expanded...
Anyway, is it possible to run reports for the last 12 months? Only had 1 feedback in the last 90 days, the rest is older but the reports only seem to show 90 days. I'm really curious as to why item as described isn't 5* as I describe everything in detail, give photos etc. Curious as to why postage isn't 5* too as I always charge less than I pay and never include packaging. Feedback suggests that everyone was really happy with everything.0 -
Hi
Great post, I was never even aware of the dashboard. My ratings are as follows:
Item as described 4.80 0.00% (0)
Communication 5.00 0.00% (0)
Dispatch time 4.70 0.00% (0)
Postage and packaging charges 4.60 4.55% (1)
I don't really get it, as far as I'm concerned all items have been 'as described.' All items have been dispatched within the agreed 24 hours, and I end up getting 4.7!?
Do I have any cause for concern here? My overall rating is 'standard' - no joke I regularly take a hit on postage charges!
Cheers
