Yes, that's a fine line isn't it, phoning up to have a moan about stars being left and hoping they can get the clue that you know who left it, but will not say you know.
I had one last year, I phoned and was as tactful as I could be, and they virtually told me who had left it before they removed it for me.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. When I phoned to complain about the buyer who left me a two star for combined postage and is relisting the items with higher postage, the eBay rep lied and said it wasn't a competitor who had left them !
Why do they give us the option to run by item number if they don't want us to find out. Yet another stupid eBay rule !You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
I'm a bit disappointed with my stars. I sell 2 or 3 items a day, post the same day as payment received or next day, always by 1st class RM, use loads of pictures, describe and measure accurately and only charge the exact RM postage and not a penny more. I use brand new packaging (mailing sacks) and pack well, include a note thanking buyers for their business, offer a no quibble returns policy, I have 100% positive feedback (when buyers bother to leave it) and I respond to questions within an hour usually, yet I've got these:
Item as described 4.80 0.00% (0)
Communication 4.44 0.00% (0)
Dispatch time 4.80 0.00% (0)
Postage and packaging charges 4.80 0.00% (0)
So yeah, I'm a bit disappointed. How can I get my stars up? I am not a business seller, I just sell secondhand clothes and occasionally clear out my enormous shoe collection.

I see what you mean.
And how did you get 4.44% in communication with no 1 or 2 low star ratings?
Well, hopefully Soolin will be able to fill us in shortly.0 -

Unusually it is your communication stars that are a worry, 4.4 is in the zone for ebay considering you under performing. The others though are fine.
Youc an get automatic 5* on communication - you need to show a 1 day dispatch, mark as dispatched within 1 day and neither you nor the buyer must contact each other through the ebay email system. (daft isn't it!)
I always email by buyers to say when I ship my goods and actually have a low star in that category (will fall off this month) - yet by ignoring them I could get an automatic 5 - madness.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. That's what I don't understand. This is an account that I've only been selling on since January so the star data is based on 11 ratings. I haven't checked the stars on my other accounts yet.
I've run a report and looked at the detailed stats and it looks like one buyer gave me 3 for everything, one gave me 5 for everything except communication, where they gave me 3 and one gave me 5 for everything except communication, where they gave me 4.
Everyone else has given me 5 for everything.
So where I am losing out on comms is that I say I despatch within 2 days, where in reality, I go to the PO every lunchtime so I despatch within 24 hours and quite often within an hour if they pay in the morning and I can get it packed up before lunchtime.
I don't send individual notification emails - I just do the standard ebay automated ones for purchase, despatch etc.
I've got a couple of dozen auctions running at the moment - is there a way of changing them all to say despatch within 1 day using a global setting or will I have to revise each listing individually?
What a pain in the behind all this is. I am a good seller with 10 years selling experience, no negative feedback and in the last couple of weeks I've had a remorseful buyer, a bidder who won 3 items and has asked to cancel all 3 sales due to not being able to pay, and someone who gave me an unjustified 3 stars for everything.
If I didn't need to clear some stuff from my house I'd kick ebay into touch.

I suppose it's easier for a seller like me, I sell far fewer items than most who have posted, and all are generally of high value. I don't think I've sold more than 20 items in a month for a while, cheapest being £60, most expensive is around £1000.
I email the buyer a personal message at every step, I thank them for buying, thank them for paying, confirm I'm going to post the item and the address its going to, confirm the item has been posted and the tracking number.
I always post the same day I receive payment, or next morning (except Sundays) and stipulate this in my auctions/sales, (in the description, as posting always within 24 hours, except Sunday). I always slight undercharge on posting, for example 500gram RMSD, I charge £6 and note in the description the fact it is below cost.
I have never had a low star and can't remember the last time a buyer didn't leave good feedback.
Flip side, I expect the same from any seller I deal with as well.====0 -

If you don't have 10 sales in the relevant period you won't have an expanded seller dashboard . In that case you are unfortunately unable to check anything.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
