    I checked on Saturday and there were no 1 or 2 stars. Ran a report from 15th Feb - 1st March which confirmed mostly 5*, 3 x 4* and 1 x 3*.

I checked this evening with 15th Feb - 4th March and I have a 1* for post and 2* for dispatch even though I add on only 20p for packaging and always post Monday morning.

I have one new feedback on the 3rd March. The only new one between the two reports. Will this be the one that left the low stars or is there a delay? As it's a collection I'm selling he may buy more so I don't want to block him un-necessarily but if it was him I can do without his custom.

    Thanks

sorry to be dense , but where are these stars I'm supposed to look for .

I've looked at the expanded dashboard , can't understand a word of it .
  • I've read the first 6 pages with interenst. I had no idea the stars made such an impact. Since checking i've noticed i have 4.68 for P&P so perhaps I need to take action?

Can you tell me what happens when people don't leave feedback?

And what about when people leave feedback without using star ratings?

Last of all, If I list some items with Free P&P - do these people need to use the feedback and stars before I would even benefit?

    Thanks

nothing, no feedback=no stars=no change to averages.

And what about when people leave feedback without using star ratings?

same as no feedback, no effect on stars at all (unless using free posting see below)

Yes they need to leave feedback but for each one that does you get an automatic 5 stars for p+p even if they dont use the stars for anything else.

    Thanks
if i had known then what i know now

Feedback is still optional, and AFAIK you only get the automatic 5* if the buyer actually leaves feedback (even if they don't fill in any stars).

I've just ran a report on feedback from a buyer that suspiciously left feedback straight after paying before i'd even dispatched it, they left a 3 for dispatch! Why?! I dispatched it same day as payment but they wouldn't even have known that cos they left feedback so quick. I can't understand their thinking, at least it wasn't all 3's or even lower stars, the rest were 5's but that makes it even more confusing as to why they'd mark down dispatch??

Harumph. My dispatch stars have been 5 for ages.
I always post the day after payment, and on occasion, the day of payment.
But they've just dropped to 4.97. Ok, so it's still good, but not as nice as a perfect 5. It's annoying to be marked down, as most of the time it's impossible to post any quicker.

Is there any point in even trying to find out who it is?

EDIT - I know I'm being precious, but the stars have gone down a little more today.
2 days ago I had 5* for description, coms, & despatch.
    They are now 4.98, 4.97 & 4.95.
I know this is still very good, and I'm having a whinge more than anything.

you guys need to get ebay to change the descriptions.

eg. if I rate a seller as 4 stars the description says I am satisfied. Yet this thread indicates if a seller has a average rating of 4 (meaning on average they have been rated as satisfactory) then thats enough to get banned.

So the way I see it ebay are misleading buyers with the rating system. In reality 5 stars is the only acceptable rating but the description to buyers doesnt indicate that.

Sellers have been trying for the years it has been in force with no success.

as for the headline stars, it is all to do with statistics, the 'average' buyer leaves 5* for 'most' sellers, so overall most sellers maintain 4.8 stars overall or above. So, statistically if alls ellers maintain a minumum of say 4.6 then it means anyone below 'average' is warned by ebay that they risk restriction. Fall too far below that average figure and they face losing their accounts.

If you look generally at sellers on ebay it is rare to see someone with stars less than say 4.7 .

The other risk is stars being left of 1* or 2* as they are considered 'very bad' by ebay and as mentioned several times, as few as 2 for a very small seller in a year can start to cause issues.

Now you see why, as soon as sellers notice that a buyer leaves a poor star without contact- they start reporting them to ebay. Ebay have promised us that these reports will be used against buyers- but frankly none of us are holding our breath. I take the precaution though of blocking any buyer who leaves me a 3* or less.
