You're confusing market share with sales and profits. You need to look at profits to see who is making a success of things.0 -

You need to look at sales, profits and market share over a period to see who is making a success of things. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Profits are really the only measure of success as the primary aim of business. If you make the most profits, you are the most successful in your field. Selling bucket loads of stuff but making no money doesn't make you successful because you aren't actually achieving what you as a business you've set out to do.0 -
Right, RIM sells high volumes of phones but those are sold at near cost and the business is losing money hand over fist.
The only two players who currently matter in Mobile are Samsung and Apple, the rest are also-rans who couldn't find profit if it ran up behind them.0 -

Exactly. I guess it just goes to highlight how terrifically lousy the competition is.

What's interesting is how O2 is pricing it. They obviously can't make it too cheap - it's a 'flagship' phone on a par with the Samsung Galaxy S3 yet £200 cheaper. If they priced it £10 a month less on a contract - who in their right mind would get an S3 anymore?
Now, i suspect O2 would make far more money on an S3 than selling a Nexus 4.
So, you'll see O2, then probably vodaphone also, skewing the price of Nexus 4 on a contract well above the 'real' cost.0
