HSPA+ is great - I can't honestly see the need for anything faster on a mobile handset. I've had full screen TV streaming on my ipad using HSPA+. They just need to invest in better national coverage

Volume down + power button or similar.
Which works in every hang-up state? IMO, every electrical device should have a means of physically isolating the power source. A key sequence which triggers a power cycle through software or firmware (which I suspect volume down + power button is) seems a tad too reliant on the processor being able to do what it is told. There's love in this world for everyone. Yep, I'd like to see someone justify to me why an iPhone5 is £250 more expensive. I'll get you started, it has LTE 4G...0

It also has a profit margin. The Nexus 4 is unlikely to make any money for Google. There is an argument that 'profitless' products such as the Kindle and Nexus harm the industry as other manufacturers can't compete (and thus innovate)0 -

It's hard for traditional manufacturers to compete with companies who can prop up one end of their business with profits from another. It's potentially very anti-competitive if it forces others out of the market.0 -

But one could argue that much of the mobile industry is built on 'profitless' products. Just as Google and Amazon subsidise the hardware to sell content, phone companies have always done the same to sell airtime contracts. I don't see that that has stifled innivation. I'd argue the complete opposite. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Just look at the how Microsoft wiped out alternative web browsers in the late 90s by using one part of its business to drive out competition in another.0 -

Absolutely, it does happen but I'd argue that it isn't inevitable and that such price competition and the imperative to keep selling hardware to maintain and grow demand for the related products from the other part of the business can (and does) often stimulate innovation. We see it with phones, with games consoles, with printers and even with disposable razors.
The problem is not the subsidy model, but what can happen when it is abused by a company with a near monopoly position. But near monopolies can abuse in many different ways. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Ah yes I take it you read that Engadget article too ringo_24601.
Google make money out of the ecosystem so don't need to worry about the device. Amazon too. Why did no-one mention this the whole time Apple's been doing it?! And let's remember that Asus makes the Nexus 7, LG makes the Nexus 4, and Samsing makes the Nexus 10 FOR Google.
See also - Games consoles.
I'm aware that we're on a moneysaving forum. Look at all the posts asking about mucky Chinese tablets with ancient processors asking if they're good enough for £80. I hope no-one is whinging about these cheap tablets and phones, and then hypocritically BUYING them?!!0 -
