There's little that we don't know about the Nexus 4. It's a LG manufactured device featuring a 4.7" 1280x768 IPS display, 1.5GHz quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB RAM, an 8 Megapixel camera / 1.3 megapixel front facing camera and either 8GB or 16GB of storage. No microSD expansion of course. As we exclusively revealed, wireless charging is included for the 2100mah battery. Connectivity comes via Pentaband HSPA - no LTE here, but again, this is exactly what we expected. The device will ship with Android 4.2.

The Nexus 4 will be priced at $299 / $349 for 8GB / 16GB versions respectively, in the US, £239 / £279 in the UK.

No 4G for those who want that but otherwise for the money that is a decent spec.

  • This bodes well for the Nexus 10 tablet that is rumoured to be ready for market.

Edit; just seen the prices in the article. Pretty good.

I really think no 4G, micro SD with 8/16GB make that a bad buy.

Google in marketing, development & services are great (if you wanna let them use your data to sell on), but all the official hardware seems specs behind when blueprinted by launch time...Motorola purchase have not even helped it out.

It is like Orange Mobile & Broadband divisions, run seperate with no idea or collaboration of what other division is doing ?
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Eh? How is a phone that launches in two weeks with a 4.7" 1280x768 IPS display, 1.5GHz quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB RAM "Seems specs behind"?

    Eh?

The 4G I can accept but frankly with the current situation in the UK, that's not going to be deal breaker for most.

The Nexus 4 is an phenomenally powerful phone.

    Seriously.

The S4 Pro is brilliant, 2GB of RAM is huge. OK so the storage isn't great, but it's easy to look past when you see the rest of the specs.

I've signed up to be notified. All the people crying about lack of 4G - find some coverage! All these cities that have been mentioned that are getting 4G, I just wonder how far out it will spread. I don't see the point in the extra cost, battery life, weight (an extra radio to carry around) of a 4G phone unless you travel to a country a lot with 4G. Give it 18-24 months and see where UK coverage is at, then you'll be ready for another phone anyway. Just when we got to the point of having 'world phones' 4G comes along and is a mess of incompatible standards worldwide.
Anyway, that's an amazing spec for a phone. You should really buy the 16GB one unless you know you won't use it.

Nexus 4 + get a little cloud storage from one of the various companies and the lack of Sd card is no longer a problem. I use cloud storage a fair bit these days and just stream to my phone (or tablet or comp) instantly.

Weird phone - amazing processor and screen, crazily small (non expandable) memory. It's all about the cloud right now, isn't it? It's like inventing a solution for a problem that shouldn't be one in the first place. I can see mobiles going the way of inkjet printers - almost giving them away on the promise of having a captive audience you can continually fleece in order to run them.
  • This phone is very exciting. I don't think i'd mind a small storage capacity since I sync all my camera photos to Dropbox, my music is on my ipod and i've yet to fill my 8gb SD card on my HTC Desire HD.

Frankly 4G is hype at the moment. There isn't a 4G voice network, so the phones need to swap between 4G and 3G transmitters for calls/data. At top whack, 3G data rates are really good anyway.

Will this phone just be available direct from Google? Didn't vodaphone sell Nexus phones once?

Cloud storage does not make limited phone storage 'no longer a problem', particularly for streaming, as accessing it will quickly consume and exceed many monthly data usage allowances. And what if you want to listen to music when you have no signal?

You can use a USB stick via OTG for extra space if you need to.
