Nice work everyone (except you p0lly, I think it'll be the naughty step for you when kat shows up...ha ha, "wait til kat get's home" :D). Despite all the chocolate talk last night, and despite my craving not disappearing, I managed to clock up NSD number 11 :) I must plan my eating a bit better though. an early lunch then not getting home til after 7 really makes it difficult to avoid those mid afternoon munchies....well, they have to be avoided if you have to buy them!

Got my dinner in the oven now so I'll be disppearing any second now to scoff it :D I reckon I have enough food to last me til my next spendy day, which will probably be Saturday...wish I'd roped myself into a 5 in a row challenge so that I could get a bouncy blue smiley face - they're really cool!!

    Evening all :)
Tonights dinner was a mish mash of all sorts. I wanted to use up some sweet potatoes and peppers that were bginning to see better days, and had loads of rice to use, and also needed to use up some leftover chicken from Sundays roast.

So, i made a 'chicken, veg and chorizo spicy rice thingy'. and lovely it was too!
I fried an onion, diced chorizo, diced veg in a little garlic oil until nice and coated in the lovely oil.
Then added the dry rice, and swished around until the rice had absorbed a bit of the oil too (only about 3 mins), then i added enough rice for us all, a tsp of tumeric, a sprinkle (rather generous) of crushed chillies, and enough chicken stock to cover it all.
Turned the heat down and simmered for 20mins. When rice has absorbed the water, its done, i added the shredded chicken, sprinkled dried coriander leaves on top, and served with garlic bread.

ahhhh, the frugal life is the best :)

That dinner sounds amazing! (Originally wrote "smells amazing" then realised I could only smell it in my head...:rotfl:) I might just steal the idea of cooking rice in a pan with the other bits like that. Never done it before but sounds great!

I am checking with my 10th NSD today, not hard seeing as I have no access to any of my money at the moment! Why is it Barclaycard can send me a new CC within 3 days but Santander can't send me a new debit card for 7 days? Harumph..! Oh and I also have to pay £20 for a replacement driving licence, and I've only just paid £25 to them to get it renewed :( Luckily I have photocopies of it at work to use until this challenge is over! :p

Anyway I received £10 back from work today for my eye test I paid for and this was money I'd forgotten about, so I have £10 cash for emergencies...oh and an instant win Twix wrapper for the chocolate craving day!!!
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!

Good evening everyone! Now on NSD #9. Great recipe btw WTB. Sounds a bit like paella.

Not much to say tonight just that I managed to get free cinema tickets today, on the Free Cinema Tickets thread. It's for 'Silver Linings' with Bradley Cooper and that girl from 'Hunger Games'. It's on a rubbish night (Monday) but is absolutely free. Love getting freebies. Dk how to put the link up on my phone, but the thread's full name is - Free Cinema Tickets: Codes Only.

Maybe won't be able to post tomorrow as working late. If not good luck with not spending tomorrow everyone.

Window cleaner showed up today but he was already budgeted for and just turns up whenever for his money so its not counting towards a spend day.

Hoping to hang off spending til the weekend and still have tons of stuff to eat up just found about 20 packets of flavoured rice in the cupboard.

  • Good Evening one and all...

First things first... Polly.. can you take the coat back tomorrow or have you already worn it? Also are you completely in love with it and desperately need to keep it in order to stabilise your mood..??? Please confess how much it is....However you are a grown up and can make your own choices with this... I would think about returning it though!...ahem...now... go on run... But massive NSK cuddles for your loveliness in admitting it and don't worry about the grubby sandwich. Best you eat than faint...

Well I had my 2nd spend day today. I was gasping for some fruit but had to come home from work immediately in order to get some things posted from eBay.. I got a few things together for work tomorrow, rummaged in my cupboards just to make sure my supplies were as I had last seen them and then headed to Tescos.. spent a whopping great £20.39 with £3.66 of this on hair dye out of my "beauty" budget but counting it all together...

I spotted the "cookie lady" again who was marking them all down to 22p so I got two tonight to bring to work for my greedy colleagues who always supply me with donuts.. and some basic ingredients to help salvage what I have left in my freezer / cupboard..

I cooked up half a bag of frozen baby broad beans.. mixed with lemon juice, dill, salt&pepper and left to marinade. Tomorrow I will add a dollop of greek yoghurt and 1 onion and whizz to make a humus consistency. This is yummy on the discounted Rivita I got along with my left over soup...

My quorn fillets ( BORING!!! ).. will get rolled in a healthy dose of salt&pepper with chilli flakes.. lime juice, egg and flour then panko ( japanese bread crumbs ) then grilled.. to be eaten with a nest of egg noodles and some weird gravy I'll have to think up..

There.. something out of nothing..ish! I shall reply properly tomorrow as I need to hit the sack.. up again at 0500..

Wonderful news with everyone's weird and whacky recipes, OH's getting on board.. NSD galore and general "egging" each other on... I love it!!!

Yes FRUGAL LIFE IS THE BEST!!! I walked away from the frozen deserts today and am absolutely LOVING this challenge!!!

    Onwards and Upwards!!
