  • I have been reading this page for the past 4 days! Finally got to the end. I want to take part but as I am moving house in 3 days November is a no go for me. I may try and do Just Dont Spend January with no spend days. Keep up the good work everybody. My credit card debt is £1900 accumulated from uni and holidays etc. I want to have this reduced by August 2013.
Not sure how to add signatures etc, but when I get a bit more time I will look into all of this. I am on board without being on board I think Ninjakat calls it "lurking"?:rotfl:

Welcome Mancman86. Yes its a little late to join but I intend to have another just as dastardly thread come January if you want to stay on this kind of "journey"....**beady NSK eyes lurking**.. Moving house is so stressful - I have done it 9 times in 11 years in London. Always one reason or another...I am a joy to live with I promise...

You say you want your CC reduced by August 2013..??? I say get rid completely.. Jan to August is 8 months.. that's exactly £237.50 per month. I suggest we help you along a little.. is this your only debt? keep watching - you will pick up some wondrous ideas ( if you haven't already ) and then you may feel comfortable come January to set up a standing order from your account to your CC each month and budget on whats left...

However.. I appreciate you reading the whole monstrous thing! You'll be eating weird meals and counting pennies in the gutter at the bus stop ( cause vehicles are not allowed unless absolutely necessary ) before you know it....

Thank you, Yes can confirm I am male!
Yes I want to embark on this money saving journey - just looking at all the money that will be spent on a rented property(only option at present) with my girlfriend is making me feel ill at the thought of it:o

Yes its a tough challenge, but its my birthday coming up as well so may give me some cash to pay into it. I did mean gone completely but my boss came to my desk and caught me on this site. All good though as I told him all about the site:A. I also have student loans -but I am not counting that as that is paid through my wages and :money:always says not to bother paying them. This is true, it is possible I would think but at present I cannot live with the car and as will be commuting daily will need it - I may get a bike with my birthday cash - this will save petrol.
Setting up a standing order is a great idea and I will look into it after the xmas hols. Girlfriend may also give me £500 towards clearing it in the next month or so as she promised to pay some of it back as well as it has funded mini breaks - but I have realised these wont be as affordable once we move out. Must be Frugal.

It was a very long thread and I am still reading and going accross the site. I have decided that when I get paid again (30/11) I am going to start a £2 challenge I dont know if I have read this on the site or not - basically will put £2 away every weekday between now and august which will equate to around £320 if I do it every day that I am at work - and leave it at work so that i dont spend it.

Thanks for the money saving boost Kat.

Declaring now at 11 NSD's. walking to do school run, without my purse so can't spend:)

Must make some more jam crumbles as they have magically disappeared so will do that later.

Had pack up for college and put some extra fruit in as I know I am not eating enough good stuff lately.

All poised for a spend up tomorrow but don't need much, just a few bits to last until we go away on Friday. Providing I can keep shopping tomorrow within my set budget I should be able to put about £15 into my secret sock and I have put the grocery money from 19th-30th into separate envelope for after I get back. Will also be attempting a fiscal fast on my return, if all goes well, I will be attempting another fiscal fast again in December:)

    Have a great day x

    Hello all.

Refrained (so far) from spending but tomorrow is going to have to be a spend day as I need to pay up for an avon order (was hoping it would wait til payday but no such luck. May do my online Christmas pressie shopping tomorrow night instead of Saturday to save a NSD.

;)Expecting Hubby to sulk tonight as we're having pasta for tea (with the sausage meatballs left over from last week) but we have no garlic bread in and we always have garlic bread with pasta - it's the law according to Hubby. No garlic or parsley either so can't even make home made:eek::rotfl:

I've been Money Tipped! Debt-free and Proud!
    Evening all :)
Tonights dinner was a mish mash of all sorts. I wanted to use up some sweet potatoes and peppers that were bginning to see better days, and had loads of rice to use, and also needed to use up some leftover chicken from Sundays roast.

So, i made a 'chicken, veg and chorizo spicy rice thingy'. and lovely it was too!
I fried an onion, diced chorizo, diced veg in a little garlic oil until nice and coated in the lovely oil.
Then added the dry rice, and swished around until the rice had absorbed a bit of the oil too (only about 3 mins), then i added enough rice for us all, a tsp of tumeric, a sprinkle (rather generous) of crushed chillies, and enough chicken stock to cover it all.
Turned the heat down and simmered for 20mins. When rice has absorbed the water, its done, i added the shredded chicken, sprinkled dried coriander leaves on top, and served with garlic bread.

ahhhh, the frugal life is the best :)
