Good Day to you all!!!
What a horrid, gloomy, miserable, nasty day it was to travel in today! But alas I grin to myself knowing full well this will be another NSD - so in apt premature assumption I marked myself up to 11 NSD's already.... don't worry if I crumble at the sight of a Crunchie I will mark it back down again! BUT I WILL BE STRONG!!
So congrats to those who made it through the weekend. I sat watching my zombies sorting through my beauty bits and mentally telling myself I will be more careful with what I buy. I have enough to wash myself in until the start of next year and will make sure I am down to the absolute minimum before venturing to buy more....
Over Christmas in Ireland one must have a bath every night as Mumsy's shower is rubbish - this will give me a chance to use up what I can over there... and MAYBE just maybe start the year with new / cheap / carefully chosen goodies.... fingers crossed..
( Sorry I Will Win and Abundant - beauty products are the ultimate downfall for us girlies something you can be thankful never to understand )...:p
So I trundled in on the bike today thinking its going to be that time of year soon where I can't use Hercules and will need to get the train. I spend about £200 on petrol a month, a weekly ticket ( including weekends ) is about £65.. I need to put aside two weeks worth of travel money now so I am not surprised when I wake up to snow or severe ice.. although this did not happen until January last year so I might get away with waiting a bit.. but rather safe than sorry...
I think my challenge to pay off my bike before the New year might ultimately kill me but there ain't no harm in trying eh..??
Glad everyone is pushing along with the challenge.. nothing quite as annoying as breaking an NSD run for washing up liquid or greaseproof paper but don't punish yourselves too much when you have too..
GelMC I have a tabby as well... Its yours a grabby scrabby crabby tabby as well sometimes?? Mine just does what she wants... Parents will get on your nerves. I haven't lived with mine since I was 17 and find it hard not doing things for myself as Mummy wants to do everything.. I love her for it though and I am who I am because of her... however what is happening in a few months are you moving out..?
Suzzi - don't worry about not checking in as often.. sometimes we just can't. Great to have you contribute when you can.. and I am getting better at planning as well...
Searching_Me... I know what you mean about a 5 week month. Its hard but I am determined not to be down to the last of it at the end of the month either.. I love the fact that you other half wants to buy you things.. I say never discourage them or they will stop altogether but my Mum would give my Dad a look when he suggests buying her something which makes him not bother.. I just wish she would let him buy her something now and then baring in mind they have been married 34 years and she has been a penny pincher all this time I think...:p I also had a bubble bath last night...** for the benefits of the reader Searching_Me and NSK did not share said bubble bath**
L2B.. well done on the overtime at work... its the easiest way to get extra funds in..
Abundant - glad you were treated by a friend. Its a nice feeling when you are special to someone.
Wannabe - any of those truffles left?? Great when you have all the ingredients in the house. Makes you feel even more smug..:p:p
His_Missus - some serious money made on eBay this weekend eh?? That's amazing.. hope your okay with the winter though without your light though...
Right folks.. I shall leave you there.. I will check in again later in the day but please keep pushing it... think about what you are wanting to spend... remember we are nearly at week 2 ( Thursday ) which is an epic achievement!!
Thank you to all who have messaged me regarding your shopping budget.. I shall hopefully be emailing some of the folk we haven't heard from at all to see how they are doing...

Well, had a quiet weekend and got NSD 8,9 and 10 is today, almost halfway there, almost. Won't go shopping again till Fri or Sat and will have to be a bit more creative with the stuff I have left. Plenty of veg and sides, but we're meat eaters so I usually start planning from the meat I have and all I have left is a chicken breast, 20 mini prawns, 4 slices of bacon, one packet of lamb mince (well and tons of black pudding that a mate brought over-any ideas?), and 3 eggs although they're not meat. Usually that would last us 2 days , this time it'll have to do 5 dinners and leftovers for lunches. Now reading through that again, easy
The no smoking is going well so far, especially since I was ill anyway and just thinking of the MOT and car service I have to pay (for hubby) and how much of that I would have smoked. Plus hubby had to borrow money off me ten days before he gets paid (20th) so I'm telling myself if I really don't want to touch my savings and have enough money for food etc I simply can't afford to buy fags.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

Wannabe honestly not picking on you in particular - I have noticed several people saying similar things ...... (both here & on the NSD thread)
Just wondering everyone's views on OHs paying for shopping / meals / treats etc ...... seems a bit unfair on the singletons (who obviously don't have that luxury) to me?
*relurks* (and awaits wet sponges being thrown at her)
Its a fair point and doesnt warrant a wet sponge............:rotfl:
Our debt is joint and OH pays all his money into bank and never takes a penny out, but he gets odd £5's and £10's in his job and gets cast off wire he spends time stripping and weighing in, along with other metals, this is our spend money - going out money - holiday spending money - it helps keep us sane and on track with paying off other things, but it doesnt go on everyday stuff like food shopping. I appreciate the singletons dont have this luxury and we havent always had this money available to spend , i spent years working 2 jobs for the extras when he had a different job.Updating .................................................

No you got a point though. I have a BF but I do all the essential grocery shopping etc that I count towards this challenge. I admit he buys the occasional drinks and treats but then I wouldn't have done it or I don't ask him too, so it was entirely his choice. On the otherhand I have to pay this year for BFs car insurance and MOT etc as he doesn't have the money and I'm the saver (although I only found out a few weeks ago), so it goes the other way too and counts as my spend dayDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

Aye and he's wondering why our savings (my responsibility) grow so slowly. I thought ok I'm the saver for the two of us but I thought he'd take care of his essentials (i.e. car loan AND tax etc.). At least I found out he always just paid half a year in road tax which costs almost a month more the the full years payment.
On the positive. He'll cancel his expensive mobile contract soon and get a cheap PAYG. Plus he shopped around to get the insurance a lot cheaper (half price even) and he'll cancel the expensive Virgin telly, braodband and phone deal after christmas. So he is learningDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
3 more NSD to report.
Living on porridge for breakfast, lentil soups and fruit teas (no need for milk) during the day, and "Suprise Us" stews and "Can You Guess Casserols" for dinner when the family are home.
I had no idea quite how much stuff can fit into a single wall unit in the kitchen, or how roomy the freezer was. How much easier it will be to defrost at the end of the month without all the part used bags of stuff to shift somewhere and keep below freezing temperature.
I do need a spend day tomorrowto get milk and some spuds (don't really fancy sprouting green ones), and possibly splash out on some basic cheese - home made pizzas, cauliflower cheese, and cheesy bake (sliced onion and sliced par-boiled potatoes, some cheap bacon bits from the freezer, bung into the oven with some grated cheese and leave until spuds are cooked and cheese melted and crispy.)
I've still got 4 tins of tomatoes, 2 of baked beans, 2 tuna, half a bag of rice, 2 packets of couscous, most of a packet of pasta and some frozen peas, sweetcorn, bread, mince, diced turkey and pork steaks.
With what's in the fridge salad drawers I should have almost enough to keep going until the weekend - just!
If I keep on target I should be able to make a minimum of another 1% on Little Miss Uni's post. WIN WIN :jI divorced my First Husband on Religious Grounds:A

Afternoon all.
Reporting another NSD. plenty of studying but no spending:)
Breakfast for kids was YS pancakes with syrup.
Lunch for me: ham sandwich, used up the last of the lettuce and a jam crumblie:)
Dinner tonight:) shepherds pie and veg for me and on the turn banana and custard for pudding. Ds2 is having curry and a naan, ds3 and dd are sharing a pizza with waffles and beans. Pud for kids is jelly and custard with sprinkles.
Off to college tomorrow so will be taking a packed lunch and enjoying a day off uni study and a change of subject. Parking vouchers ready to go.
If I manage to keep under budget for the rest of the week I will have some more money for the secret sock....which isn't really a sock at all:D
Only need food up to thurs night, so need to make sure I do a fridge use up week, as off for weekend away with bf on Friday:) so looking forward not to cooking all weekend (and no washing up!!)
Have a great day xNovember NSD's - 70 -

Sorry didn't mean to pick your post in particular, just as an example that reminded me of similar posts. Why are you all eating different meals? Or is that just what you have left in fridge freezer. Sorry just curious.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250
