TFL hadn't updated their LU tube map app to iOS 6, the actual instruction from TFL was that if an iOS 6 user complained about a lack of app to offer them a paper map.

Some intellectual halfwit (or Android user) member of staff managed to make a total !!!! up of the instructions.

What does make me laugh is those with iphones who have cases on them to protect the phone but have that little bit cut out of the back so as not to cover the oh so important apple logo, just in case people thought for a moment they didnt have an iphone.

discuss it please - lets hear what you think is better and why, rather than just saying it's better because it's apple - you've failed ot justify any of your opinions with any facts, there's no point in posting in a discussion thread about an ipad mini if you are just going to say it's the best with no back-up, no experience of the device in question, and no ability to look objectively at it.
the whole point in thread like this is for people to form opinions as to which one is best for them, clearly if someone is called mrochester then this is the device for them, but if another user comes on here looking to find out why that is, they will be none the wiser

The point being made was nothing to do with Maps, it was the the fact the TFU app wasn't compatible.

Have you ever managed to use a satnav or get a GPS lock while on the Underground?

I think the post might have been reference to the disaster apple had with maps on ios6, rather than the specific story behind the well known photo...

Of course maps won't be an issue as the basic iPad Mini omits a GPS for some reason.

I have told you over and over and over again. Refer back to all my previous posts that told you why I think it's better. This is why I've said it's completely pointless trying to discuss this with you. As such, this will be the end of that discussion.

Nope, I've listed the real reason, as told by someone at TfL who was present when the instruction went out to stations, the message should have been an apology for lack of update to the app and an offer of a free paper map.

Why it was written like that they didn't know, it was said, the LU staff member was probably being a little "clever". It was never TfL's intention to comment on Maps that have no bearing on using the underground.

Maps will still be included, as it was on the iPad 1, 2, and 3 WIFI models and Touch. It just uses a less precise wifi system for location.
