Small Tesco PS3 game vent and question
Comments

Not quite - OP said they had been let down before by Amazon relying on Royal Fail to get a game to their door on launch day. Therefore now when buying a much longed for game on launch day OP prefers to go to a physical store and be sure of a copy even if it costs a few £ more.
For non launch day games Amazon is more than adequate.
Well, more the distrust of shopto. Love them guys.0 -
Since you are obviously a man of much experience I wonder if you can shed any light on why some games are masterbagged and others are still in the theft proof cases?
To be honest here, what do you think I am? Psychic?
At a guess.....
1. There could either be particular titles that the store feels are a target for theft that could be masterbagged.
2. They may do it by retail value - i.e. case anything below £20 and masterbag anything above £20.
3. They don't have enough theft proof cases so masterbag what doesn't get a case.
The only one that will know the answer is the person that introduced the masterbagging policy in the store.
What I do know is masterbagging is a time consuming process and then you need to store the media and retrieve it once sold. They won't have done it without a good reason - most likely theft.0 -
No 'had', still a Store Manager.
Games is not one line/item, I am sure it applies to the full range or all over a certain retail value.
The decision to masterbag has been taken for a reason. No reason for a Store Manager of any sized store not to know that this policy is in place in his/her own store.
I would not expect our store manager to know what security has been implemented for each product in the store I work. Between him and the actual tagging, or not, there would be the senior manager(ie non-food trader), the security manager, the stock control manager(food or non food), the department manager, the department team leader and then the general assistant. Maybe even throw a member of the security team in the mix as well.
That process could be replicated over the tens of thousands of items that are sold in the store. Each store will have its own policy on reducing "shrink" to a level that is acceptable to the company dependent on the location and size of shop.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -

Ta. I was in there tonight and it looks like all of the newer PS3 games have been gutted but not the Xbox ones. Hmmm...
I'll post up whatever reply I get from Tesco whenever they decide to send it. At least if the manager is having to investiagte it then it will ensure he knows what's going on.Don't grow up. Its a trap!
Peace, love and labradors!0 -

Simple reason for that - PS3 games have no "red tag" capability where as the majority of Xbox games do thus are easier to secure in such a fashion where it's at the very least difficult to do anything with them! Take it from someone who's had to try & get a red tag which has got stuck in a product out, they're a major pain in the backside to get out without the proper equipment!Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

.The reply.... TA DA!
Dear Honeydog
Thank you for your patience while I've been investigating your complaint resolution. It is greatly appreciated.
Furthermore, I’m very sorry that you were unhappy with the reply you received from me. I apologise for any further annoyance caused. This was not my intention but merely to explain things for you and to resolve the issue the best we can.
I’d also like to apologise that it seemed I was fobbing you off by suggesting the purchase of the Hitman game online. Please let me assure you that this was not my intention but I wanted to give another option for you to purchase a shrinkwrapped copy of the game on release day.
With that said, I can confirm that we’ve received a response from Paul, the Store Manager in our Alfreton store who has also asked me to pass on his apologies for this happening as well.
Paul has advised me that after discussing our concerns with the Non Food Manager in store, we will endeavour to have a supply of wrapped games at the Customer Service desk. However, these games will have a security tag on them during their time at the desk which can pierce the game wrapper.
In addition to this, we are going to try and arrange the dummy boxes for our Alfreton store to ensure that all the actual games are kept in the original shrinkwrap at the Customer Service Desk.
Once again, I’m really sorry that this has happened but thank you for bringing this matter to my attention and if you have any further queries, please don’t hesitate to email me back.
Kind regards
KMcG
So basically I 'might' be lucky enough to get one of the copies they've left intact but it will have a hole in it!!!
Words fail me.
Sorry Tesco you just lost a PS3 game customer.
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

I would have thought a solution/option would be to have dummy cases on the shelf and when you purchase a game someone is called for/asked to get 1 from the secure cage and bring it to the relevant checkout.
I do understand your gripe OP, Id ask the staff in GAME(when buying a new game) if i could check the disc for scratches, finger marks etc as didnt like the fact it was taken out of a cardboard sleeve.0 -
Honeydog, you clearly did not read my post above, if it's the PS3 version there will most likely be no holes in them, of the 20 PS3 games I own two have the capability for that type of tag. I'm not going as far as to say 100% beyond reasonable doubt that it won't be that kind of case, but I would say I'm 90% sure it won't be.
But you're free to take your custom anywhere else, you can feel glad you've essentially wasted a good while of the CS department's time.
(and DCFC79 - I do that when purchasing pre-owned games every time, my particular nasty habit is that once I've purchased the game, shrink wrapped or not, I check it while going out the door! Not the first time I've had to collar them for putting the wrong product in the box - FIFA/Tiger Woods games are notorious for it!)Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -
