Small Tesco PS3 game vent and question

In respect of money saving....I usually check games on both of these sites (you can check DVDs etc on the 2nd one too!)

Games tracker can also track new/used prices. Which is handy because if there is a huge saving, i'll go with the pre-owned copy, if its just a few £ difference, i'll go with new.
Most companies who take online pre-orders will ship at least a few days before launch to guarantee your copy arrives before launch (although I havent used them personally....apparently tesco entertainment do this).
Worth while bookmarking those 2 pages though if you even semi regularly buy games/dvd/music.
As for games not coming sealed, personally I prefer sealed. I'm always wary when they get the discs from drawers/cabinets and make sure theres no scratches on it from their handling. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
As much as I am not in agreement with you about master bagging, I do totally agree with your view on what the Store Manager should be aware of.
Master bagging will be due to theft issues as they are not going to do a time consuming job without a good reason. But doing it is an implemented process. For a Store Manager not to know that this process takes place is unthinkable.
I do not rate Tesco CS which is why I rarely shop there anymore.
Well, there will be numerous managers and supervisors in between the individual shop floor staff, and the store manager. Do you really think that how each item of stock is merchandised is the concern of the store manager in somewhere as large as a tesco branch?
No, it's the concern of the supervisors and managers in between. The store manager manages the store, and the managers of the managers who manage the managers. He or she might do the odd floor walk, but not look into individual product policy unless asked.0 -

As a Store Manager for the past 15 years, I am quite aware how food retail stores operate, both large and small.0 -
So you had an encyclopaedic knowledge of exactly how the staff merchandised every single item on sale in the branch at all times?
No 'had', still a Store Manager.
Games is not one line/item, I am sure it applies to the full range or all over a certain retail value.
The decision to masterbag has been taken for a reason. No reason for a Store Manager of any sized store not to know that this policy is in place in his/her own store.0 -
What if nobody told him?
I don't know how much autonomy supermarket staff have, but when I made the decision to stop masterbagging where I work (it wasn't worth the time to do it, nor the time and expense of people stealing the cases forcing us to mark down the boxless games......and other issues) I cleared it with my line manager, who had a quick word with the manager of the department, and it stopped there. No need to leap up another three levels of management to tell the store manager when he trusted the competency of his staff to get stuff done without asking him. Everything is managed at a department level with the big picture forwarded to the store manager as and when needed.0 -
OP if it were me Id stop buying the games from Tesco until the policy changes or just not bother again. Im sure you could get the games cheaper from websites like simplygames.co.uk, amazon, zavvi or even order them online from tesco direct if you collect the points.0

No, Op made it perfectly clear that having the product delivered to their door a few days early is too much trouble.0 -

Not quite - OP said they had been let down before by Amazon relying on Royal Fail to get a game to their door on launch day. Therefore now when buying a much longed for game on launch day OP prefers to go to a physical store and be sure of a copy even if it costs a few £ more.
For non launch day games Amazon is more than adequate.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

Since you are obviously a man of much experience I wonder if you can shed any light on why some games are masterbagged and others are still in the theft proof cases?Don't grow up. Its a trap!
