    Afternoon everyone :hello:

Fingers crossed that this manages to post as I wrote a long one yesterday, only to hit submit and it all disappeared.....................

:j Welcome to Old McDonald, jennywren and Princess

My car has had its service today. :( It means that my bank account is quite a bit lighter than before :( but at least it doesn't need doing again for another 16k miles. I took it to Cambridge, so that I could spend the day mooching around the shops. DH also had another one of his Microsoft exams (number 5 of 7) this morning just north of Cambridge, so we met up after he'd passed it. :j :j  I had a soup for lunch in a nice cafe opposite King's College, but couldn't help feeling that I could have made it for less than £3.25 .

DH was commenting on the fact that my mum always manages to "whip up" a picnic from scratch - including "Tiger" soup (tomato soup, which always gets taken to Leicester TIGERs rugby matches :D), rolls with various fillings, shortbread or such like (normally out of the freezer). I pointed out that my mum is just OS but has worked at it longer than we have :o .

I've also decided that I'm going to make a concerted effort to lose weight. I'm giving up chocolate again, after making myself feeling particularly ill when I was able to eat chocolate on Sunday. :o I also realised that I just felt frumpy in some of the clothes that I tried on and many of the clothes that I like just don't suit me with my barrel of a stomach. I was also spurred on by the fact that I haven't been trying and when I weighed myself this morning, I'd lost a couple of pounds. Not too bad after my binge earlier in the week on choccy. Obviously, shedding the inches is more important, so I'll be measuring myself  and keeping notes on that too........... My first goal is to have got down to 11st 7lbs for our first wedding anniversary (and the fact that a friend is getting married the day before, so I can fit into the smart clothes that are already in my wardrobe!). :)

    Bye for now

catowen – heartfelt congrats to your DS, I can well understand how important those wins are!!! :T

joannasmum – hope your positive thoughts are still with you :D

:hello: Welcome oldMacdonald and Princess81 :D:D:D

BR – hope you hear from PP soon – it’s not like her to stay away without good cause, especially on other occasions her dh has logged in on her behalf to keep us all informed if anything was amiss! Yes, I can understand your worry!!

Hazel – it’s a juggle which is best, allowing the child to retrieve his own ball, or putting up a higher fence and then being responsible for continually throwing the darn things back every hour!!! I do agree though, it’s disrespectful of the mother to just assume its ok to launch her child over into *your* garden. Hopefully it’s an issue you’ll be able to resolve one way or another.

Nels – do you need me to throw you a lifesaver before you drown under that paper work?? *strikes match in anticipation* Hope you enjoyed a lovely lunch – I’m sure you will have – and JK reminded your acquaintance of “Karma” ;)

smokeybabe – your nurse sounds like a real star!!! Hopefully she’ll have them all singing from the same song sheet and things will at least be on an even keel!

VickyA - best of luck with your weight loss goals!!

Well, after 5 hours of shopping I think we finally have everything that meets the criteria and “compromise” between the schools *need* list, d12yo’s *want* list and my *do-able* list!!! Wasn’t able to secure bargains all round, but I did get some corkers – will update the PMS thread tomorrow or Saturday with the bargain buys :D

Even managed (after several text msgs from a frustrated estranged dh  ) to get to the garage and pay an outstanding bill :o Maybe it was because I was feeling tired (?) don’t know, but I went A.O.T. when I left the garage workshop and landed particularly heavily on my right knee. Despite wearing trousers (no rip! :j ) I’ve got that pebble dashed grazing on my knee, but the pain in the kneecap and up my thigh is just something else again!!!!! So, for the foreseeable future, I’m limping  The boys think it’s a chuckle to see me hobbling (I’ll get my own back by making them Lentil Dahl ;) ) but I’m amazed at the level of pain from just one trip  Silly billy me – I did feel a right plonker when I hit the deck  Thankfully the location of the course I’m doing doesn’t have any stairs to conjure with tomorrow – well I’m really hoping the pain has gone by then anyway!

No gardening this afternoon after all but I did pick up some rather nice bits for card making in Mr T’s, so a relative amount of stroking and dribbling has been the order of the afternoon ;) ( fellow card makers will understand that  )

Need to rustle up something for supper – oh, that’ll be the Lentil Dahl then :D – and then it will be a crafting evening while enduring d12yo’s addiction to Waterloo Road. Putting on the BM so I don’t need to worry about timers for the morning and I’m loading the washing machine again so the lads can hang that out in the morning after breakfast. Always need to be extra organised when there is much to be accomplished the next day!

    Good Evening All

    Hope we are well

peem :j well done for the potty training, I mean your DD - not you!

scuzz Sounds like heaven! Enjoy your time away with bf. Like Catowen says - the "impulse" hols are the best. Myself & OH always book last minute. Thats only 'cos we can never rely on my ex to have the kids when he says he does!

mrs-mix here's hoping for a better night for you. Glad the surgeon listened to reason ref DD tonsils. I had mine out when I was 22. And that took a lot of persuading (sp)

    essex-girl hows puppy today!

csarina you will get there eventually with the unpacking!

kittie hope you managed to sort through your clothes. I too think that the days of ever being a size 8/10 again are long gone! will have to make do with a size 16 for a while!

stressedoutmumof1 hope you got through your ironing, Im washing all the time, but I only iron as we need the clothes. There was a time I used to iron and put things away, but they ended up being more creased.

    welcome OldMcDonald & jennywren & princess81

catowen well done to DS and the football!

tickb26 I normally get my tea-towels from Dunelm, Ive had some which have lasted about 8yrs (and still going strong)

dannahaz I can understand why you said what you did. That was just darn right cheeky! I would have said a lot worse!

Well - since I finished work, Ive ironed the clothes for tomorrow, done another 2 loads of washing, and have managed to get it all dried on the line. And put all clean washing away!
OH Cleaned the rabbit out, whilst DD was practising to ride her bike without stabilisers on.
Ive just had a bacon & egg sandwich for dinner. Not exciting I know, but they needed using up!

Im so tired, roll on bed time! But its a little too early to run the bath yet!

    Best be off
    Love Emma xxx

Not had chance to read through properly just yet but hugs to those who need them and welcome to the newbies :)

Queenie, I just realised what AOT is :o hope your knee feels better soon. Smoky, good luck with the consultant on Tuesday. Essex girl hope the puppy is ok. Scuzz & CCstar enjoy your holiday. Catowen well done to your DS and his team, was wondering how they got on.

Been to see Nurse (No GP appoitnments available) about this cough as had no sleep last night again and was struggling to cope with it (not like me and finding it frustrating) antibiotics as glands are up, tonsils also. Hopefully they'll start to kick in over the next couple of days. VickyA good luck, loose some for me too if you like, I lack what is usually called Motivation!

Sods law cancelled puppy's appointment with vet as cough seemed to have gone for almost 48 hours (must be 4 weeks now she'd been ill) then tonight she's started again worse than before. Going to ring them tomorrow and she is going regardless.

Well not done too bad at home, more than yesterday, nothing much OS cooking wise as I've been coughing too much, would end up with a flour shower every time I cough/sneeze :rotfl: Have bought some blueberries hoping to be better over weekend to do some muffins with them, but if not shall freeze them, I think I have seen them in supermarket frozen so can't see why not.
One day I might be more organised...........

    Evening all :hello:

Am back mainly to say that I have finally heard from PP, she's been unwell and has also had a lot of stressful business to deal with re her extended family... don't really want to say too much on here as it's her business not mine ;)

I've had some good news - my favourite cousin has moved house and is now a 20 minute walk from me :j :j :j :j I knew she was considering it but not that she had actually gone ahead with it :j :j :j :j

As for this evening, I thought I was going out but having emailed and phoned the press office of the company whose show I was hoping to review, nobody has responded to my request for tickets  still, never mind, I didn't particularly fancy going out this evening anyway - much nicer to stay at home.

Nelski, your lunch with Lucie sounds lovely - I still wish she could have joined us in Blackpool last year!

Good luck to everybody trying to lose weight. I know what you mean Crazychik, I used to be a size 12 and not sure what happened :o

csarina I hope you will be very happy in your new home :)

    Have a lovely evening

    Love Rzl xx

Thank goodness you've heard from her!! I'm sorry she's been unwell and had added issues to deal with on top of that. No, you shouldn't say any more, you are quite right, it's *her* business and we all respect that.

Thank you for updating us BR. :D If you text again, do please pass on my own sincere concerns for her and I hope that we see her again as soon as she is well enough and strong enough to feel like posting.

l'il me - oh yes do get another appointment! Always worth getting their health checked out. Hope your own anti-b's kick in soon and you'll be feeling much better.

Evening all, this weather is wonderful, the joy of getting clothes dried outside!
Hugs to all who are in pain, mental or physical.
Queenie, be careful, a fall like that can be extremely painful, try Arnica cream which usually helps me with bruising when I bang into doors and things.
Kittie..go easy on yourself, 60 is not old. I do know how it feels when the only clothes you like in the shop stop at size 14, I go home promising myself never to eat anything again except fruit and vegetables, but then I make bread and the smell of it when cooked kills me if I can't have some and then there's the butter you need on top!

DD4 has been moved DGS2 into his own room to-day but not finished so I am sitting here while she and he sit on the floor sorting through more "stuff" where does it come from?? Hopefully the move will be complete before she goes back to college on Monday.

Finding it very difficult to stay within the 400euro I am trying to limit myself to for food for April, food seems very much more expensive here than quotes I see on this thread, will struggle on as I think that will be all I can spend when I go on pension, taking note of all everyone says and making much of my own bread, although not saving much really on that as strong flour is expensive here too.

Sorry for moaning, will be fine when I can get back to garden to do second half of watering!
