Thats what you get for buying Apple. They are great at making people think that they have to have a later model all the time. Clever marketing aimed at idiots who think they are clever.

By all means go back if you want to, but be aware that they have every right to refuse you a refund. Anything they do will be a goodwill gesture - keep this in mind and approach the situation politely.

You have to admit buying an iPad hours before a scheduled announcement was a bit rash! The annoying thing is they'll be selling iPad 3s quite cheap now. Probably be going for £350 in the next month.

unboxed it, used it, turned it on ..

heres hoping they will honour the return as new. because to me it is new.


seems annoying as I always use comet ( get 10% discount through a work scheme)

if everything fails I could probably sell it tomorrow for the price i paid for it

Perhaps. Comet are not known for their customer service. Bear in mind that "change of mind" returns are always according to shop policy, as the customer has no statutory rights.

No, I'll tell them that the model is already released because as of 8pm this evening it is !


I'll probably give comet a ring tomorrow morning and see what there take is on the situation. I did also take out the 2year extended cover as it was only £50 a year so ive got two years cover if the item is damaged at any stafe

Everyone knew apple where announcing the mini iPad today pretty much every website is stating the iPad 4 was a complete shock. I doubt anyone at Comet knew. Even if they did you bought the product and that was your choice, you didn't have to, I think you've just been unlucky with the timings.

Edit: just to add, it may well be March next year for the iPad 4 to actually be available for purchase. The iPad mini is soon but no release date has been given for the 4.

Ouch - you'd have been better to shop around for alternative cover. SquareTrade offer much better value warranties.
