  • Oh angelatgracelandI am so sorry to hear of your loss.

No spends today, had butternut squash & chickpea jalfrezi from the fridge for dinner (I made it last night). Nice and easy, only had to make rice. Tomorrow we're having vegetable chilli from the freezer so same idea really.

    Hi all

Just a quickie from me - my first true NSD in goodness knows how long! :j
Breakfast was toast with spread and marmite, lunch was my italian soup, a guy in work surprised me with a w1spa g0ld which was an unexpected (and un-needed) treat! and tea was feta salad which I bulked out with chickpeas, and had two bake at home rolls with (I was hungry but to be fair usually I would snack after tea and I haven't today!).

Rest of the week lunches are the italian soup except Fri, which I'm not sure of yet.
Tue - the rest of the feta salad with chickpeas, may add a carb such as cous cous depending on appetite.
Wed - coconut dahl with garlic and coriander naan
Thu - at mum's so I find a recipe, she buys ingredients and I cook when I go round! This is once a week so it's a lovely treat! Not sure what to have yet!
Fri - Rest of coconut dahl and another naan - OR pizza if I really feel the need to "treat" myself.

  • Had hoped to wait until tomorrow to do a shop but decided as I had run out of yoghurt for breakfast I would get back into making my own, ok it’s not as nice as the greek yoghurt I usually buy but it will do. So did a quick shop yesterday for a starter and couldn’t resist the bogof plums so another £2.55 spent (sig updated).

I have drawn up a 2 week menu using just freezer supplies :j, so technically I should only need to buy bread, milk and fresh veg (although I do have some frozen). Looking forward to notching up a few more NSD’s :T

  • angelatgraceland, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Over here (under here? As in, Down Under?) things are looking pretty good, although I'm not quite as smuggy smugpants as I was a couple of days ago. Ran into the shop today to get some potatoes for potato and broccoli soup for tonight (since DH used up all ours in a wildly overoptimistic portioning situation for our weekend roast), and a couple of other very necessary bits, and stayed clear of the treats. Hurrah! But I defrosted some mystery meat tonight for tomorrow's dinner, turned out to be lamb shanks, so I ran out to the supermarket for a bottle of cheap red wine to slow cooker them in...and I was quite hungry...so somehow a salami and some Brie found their way into the trolley. Oh dear.

So that's an extra $22 for me today, all of which was unplanned and none of which will reduce next week's grocery bill.

On the bright side, nothing to do with groceries but I got a couple of small reimbursement cheques I'd forgotten about and then my mother-in-law rang to say let's skip adult presents this Christmas and just do the children. So that's a couple of hundred dollars I wasn't expecting. I have decided this is the universe rewarding me for Taking Control, so, thanks all!

Dinner tonight is frozen LO spag Bol. Need to drive to the huge shopping centre to pick up DD1's new glasses and will resist buying dinner there :D this will be quick to make when we get home or for OH if he is home before me
