Barclaycard

Hi i am just after some expert opinions really
A couple of years ago I had 2 credit cards, my charges spiralled well out of control and i am sure i have probably given both Capital One and Barclaycard a lot of money.
Before i start the ball rolling, does it matter that they closed down my account as i defaulted, or would i be completely wasting my time. Both cards have now been paid off in full. But i don't want to go through the procedure if because they closed the account and i defaulted they refuse.
Hoping someone can help
thanks

You can still go ahead and claim in my opinion. I've claimed with Capital One and although they took a long time I got my full refund in the end after going through The Financial Ombudsman Service. Good luck0

Personally I wouldn't accept the offer and press ahead with your claim through the court, or if you're not confident enough to go that route go through the Financial Ombudsman.0

Hi
I wrote a letter to Barclaycard on 8/10/2008 detailing each of the charges, I also added the interest on top of each charge.
In summary my charges were
Without Interest £184
With Interest £225
I have been offered the difference between the charges incurred and the current charges of £12, which amounts to £164
Clearly they had another way of working the calculations out! Its not much point taking this through the court, as they were only slightly of the first amount I gave to repay me.0 -
Do not take it!
The OFT never said that £12 was an acceptable charge!
The OFT said that it would take action on charges ABOVE this level but not once did it say that £12 was acceptable!
You are entitled to claim the full amount back unless of course they can outline their exact losses they incurred when you went overdrawn etc.
They try this on but do not be fooled!0 -

Send another letter telling them you will take them to court for the full amount unless they refund in full within 14 days.
If there is any debt remaining on your account they are likely to put any monies reclaiming towards the debt but if your account has been cleared then you can ask them for a cheque and not a credit on your account.0 -

I just opened another letter to quote what they offered me in the first letter, they now have put 64 pounds plus 8 percent interest!!
I now will a) Send the first letter back detailing 164 pounds which is only a small amount of the what I quoted them without interest, and accept the offer including the letter
b) Put a claim through moneyclaim
Just got off the phone to them, they are sticking to their guns on the 64 pounds plus interest it took them "please hold a moment' for around 5 mins to decide this!0 -
Following on from my post above, I sent another letter asking for the full amount or court action will follow, as yet nothing back.
Is it worth starting a court claim against them, as Im assuming their letter back will be sticking with the 64 pounds plus interest? Ideas?0
