I'm going to pop this thread into the Barclaycard thread as, sorry about this but... Barclaycard seem to be the worst to deal with when trying to get information from.
Basically you send out the letter in Martin's article, see the link in my signature, along with a cheque for £10 and ask for all the info/statements held on you and as you don't know the cc number give your name, any relevant addresses and your date of birth.0 -
barclaycards 40 days is up but I`ve recieved 2 bog standard `we are snowed under` letters from them.
I rang the number on the letter and got straight through to the main guy in charge of it all!
talk about flustered! I thought he was going to lay an egg. anyway he fobbed me off with thye `1000s of requests etc etc` lines.
Do I report them to the IC?0 -
Report them! they failed to comply. You think they would let it lie if you were late with your legal commitments? No! They illegally charged you every time you were late on a payment.Reclaiming Bank Charges in the UK

Not sure if anybody can help with this but any advice would be gratefully received.
I had a credit card with barclaycard up until about 2003 and incurred some large bank charges at the time. Unfortunately i have since got rid of all the paperwork relating to this card/account thinking i wouldnt need it (always the thngs you throw away isnt it!!). I cannot trace the card number but would like to make a claim if possible as i was left severely out of pocket at the time. Does anybody know if it is possible to trace a credit card number/how to go about doing this?
Thanks all.
If you provide Barclaycard with your addresses at the time of holding the card, your full name and date of birth, this shold be sufficient for them to access and deliver all your information to you including the number and charges.Reclaiming Bank Charges in the UK
Trying to Reclaim in the USA0 -
I (like about a million others at the last count!) have been trying to reclaim charges from bank accounts and credit cards.
At least 2 of these are historical accounts which are closed.
It was my understanding that banks and credit card companies had to retain my records for a certian period of time, presumably 6 years, which would be in keeping with the time frame you can request records from.
I received a letter from Barclaycard this morning stating that they had no record of an account ever being opened in my name.
They asked if I had moved address or got married (name change), but also mentioned that the account may have simply been deleted from their system.
Is this simply a ruse to dissuade me from pursuing my claim or can they legally destroy all traces of our financial relationship?
The funny thing is I've just found a statement dated February 2004 so they will get sufficient proof0 -
I have successsfully reclaimed money from Capital One Bank and am itching to do more! I have 5 old accounts (with Barclaycard & GE Money) which I needed CCCS intervention for as I got into a bit of trouble with them.
Part of this trouble was that I was being charged left, right and centre, which meant I found myself in a position of being unable to pay the minimum payment AND the charges, hence the need for a CCCS plan (which finished in 2003)
None of these accounts defaulted - so can I claim back any charges, or am I opening a can of worms??0 -
Edinburghlass wrote:You can claim for late payment fees and over limit fees. The cc companies are likely to come back and only offer you the difference between what you had been charged and the OFT recommended £12 however, you can still argue this point too.

If its getting near the 40 days send them the letter that Rex suggests but as you can read Barclaycard must be the worst to deal with at this stage.0
