  • Hi guys,I'v been trying to get my money back from Barclays/Barclaycard since November last year. I have court dates set for August, It cost me £60 in total to claim online. But last week I got a letter through my door from them saying "We do not accept liability blah blah blah, however we are prepared to settle in full including 8% interest and court costs". What a result... just waiting for my cheque now.I had loads of problems with them but it's worth sticking with it and starting court procedures (if anyone's worried about it) as they do pay up eventually.Martin and everyone else on here... thanks so much for your help.Claire

    hi bankbandit,
l recieved an offer from barclaycard after my first letter sent. It stated that they were`nt in the wrong but would offer me a payment of £144.00 as an offer of goodwill. My orginal claim was for £360.00 what they say is in Aug 06 they changed there charges from 25.00 to 12.00 and would repay me the difference which was 144.00. I have written back declining the offer but have said l would accept £300.00 to bring it to an end.
I recieved a letter on saturday telling me they will look into it and let me know by the 18 th july.
I have another barclaycard account which l recieved the same answer and replied no to and giving them the offer l would accept.
I did state that l would be starting court proceedings by 6th July if l didnt recieve any other offer and the letter they sent me has asked til the 18th July to let them look into it BUT not that l don`t believe them l am going to call them on the 6th and hopefully speak to someone and state that if l don`t recieve any satisfaction l shall start court proceedings on the 19th July.
    I think thats fair.
Up to now barclaycard (with me anyway) do seem to be making a move quickly, my case with Lloyds on the other hand is dragging.
Anyway hope that helps a bit.

Did recieve my answer within the two weeks as asked for in the first letter aswell .

I have gone through the letter process and I have made claims totalling £644 - I made two claims (£500 & £144) as they sent the list charges in two parts as they had to retrieve some records from micro film and I was concerned that any delay may cause problems.

I have made claim through court (Moneyclaim) and Barclaycard have given a strongly worded defence, I know MSE says this is designed to scare you and it is unlikely they will appear in court to defend, but just incase does anyone have any tips or advice?

The next step is to start getting your court bundle up together. This is basically three copies of everything you should already have: your list of charges, your letters to the bank and any letters from the bank. Depending on the actual defence, you might need some other more legal documents. Please read the Court Bundle Checklist thread.

I had/have a Barclaycard and my limit was 300 which i stayed in.Then BC added a charge which took me over my limit and have been charging me interest ever since.I got a letter from Westcroft debt people and i rang them and explained the situation.I offered to pay what i owed(280)and no more. They blabbed on about terms and conditions and after asking me again for money and me refusing they hung up!!
The total is now 880 and point blank refuse to pay,do i have a case??

I sent off my chq for £10 to get all my barclaycard statements - They sent me my statements in two batches, i recieved the first bach and started a claim and now i want to add the additional charges.
Barclaycard have offerred me £80 of the orginal £272 claim i made, they gave me the different of the of the £20 charges from the £12 that they now charge and they credit my acount with £80.
I have accepted the claim as part offer and have requested they pay the full amount.
I now want to claim for the extra £180.00 that i didnt know about after recieving all of my statements - so i have written to Barclaycard and request they add this onto my claim making it now £452.00, still accepting the £80 as part payment.
Can anyone tell me if they have any luck claiming all of there charges back and not just the difference between £20 and £12?
    Thanks

People have had joy claiming all charges bank from the CC Companies, this is just usual stalling tactics, proceed as you would with a bank account. Although I dont know if you can use the FO for CC it may have to be courts?

Id have a look through the Credit Cards bit or do a search on the forums for others who have claimed from Barclays

I've heard of loads of people who have had the full amount back from their credit card companies.

I am definitely going to stick it out and go for the full amount, so would urge you to do the same :)

Can you let me know the address you used to start the claim? (The "you've robbed me blind you rotters, and I want my money back" letter. I've already got the last six years' worth of statements from them.)

    Good luck!
