where do i send my letter asking for charges/fees refund?
can only find address for requesting statements.
    thanks in advance..
  • I recently sent a letter to barclaycard trying to reclaim my credit card charges. My charges total £404, plus interest £78.60. They replied saying they would look into my complaint.
In this months statement I have been refunded £152 in "unlawful" charges. I couldn't quite believe that they this to me as easily as the did, but I am somewhat disappointed that it isn't anywhere near what I'd originally asked for. I know reclaiming your credit card charges is supposed to be a lot more difficult to reclaiming bank charges. I just don't know what to do now.
    Some advice please.............
  • Hi there,

At the beginning of March I wrote to Barclaycard for details of charges. They wrote back enclosing statements back to June 2004. They say that prior to that the information is held on microfilm and will take longer to produce. Barclaycard claim it is likely to be within 'the next 6 weeks or so'. They claim the Information Commissioner is aware of this. In addition they do not consider microfilm statements to fall within the scope of the Data Protection Act 1998. How can this be as all statements requested are after 1998?

Does anyone know the legitamacy of this? In view of possible new legislation do you feel I should claim now for the charges I know of or wait for full information.

    Help please!

    Zoro.

Looking about i think think everyone has had this response from Barclaycard (myself included).

Personally i claimed the charges from the statements they sent me originally up until 2004, I enclosed all my charges from them which came to just under £1200, they sent me a letter saying that they do not agree with the action i have taken but are prepared to "knock off" just over £800 of my statement, as this will now leave me a balance of approx £65.00, i have accepted the offer.

End of the day though it's entirely up to you what you decide to do.......

    Good luck:beer:
  • Sent the DPA letter for statements (and forgot to do receorded delivery) Received acknowledgment of letter though. More than 50 days went so I send second letter by recorded delivery. Received letter stating that they recquired payment for the statements - yet I have proof they received the first letter that had the cheque. Since they hadn't cashed this cheque I decided I was going to send the 2nd cheque. A few days later on the day I was going to post the next letter the statements fall on my doorstep.

Do they know what they are doing?!!

  • letter rec'd from barclay card offering £312 of £610 claim. I intend writing to them saying this will only be accepted as partial payment without prejudice and if I do not receive remainder of my claim I will take court action. They wish to pay the money into my bank account and have asked that I supply them with the details of my account as my credit card account with them is closed.

Do others agree this is what I should do?

    Hi Everyone,

I'm possibly one of the lucky one's and actually kept all of my card statements going back to about 1998.

I'm thinking about putting a claim into them for £758 plus interest.

The only thing I'm a bit worried about is them closing my account if I claim. I am over my limit of £1100 by about £250. Can they close my account if I claim and demand full repayment, or are they not allowed to do this?

All answers will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank all.
  • Hi There

I've recently received the letter back from Barclaycard offering the difference between the £12 and the original fee - a sum total of £271.

However, I actually demanded the whole lot with interest.

Now, I intend to send a letter back refusing this, but stating that I would be willing to drop the interest claim, and simply have the original amount (around £600 without interest).

However, I don't have the account anymore, and they explained I would have to contact them and give them bank details so they could pay the money into a suitable account.

Would I have to accept their offer citing it as partial?

In addition, there isn't a specifically worded template on the site regarding this, so if anyone has any advice as to what template to use and alter slightly, I'd be most grateful!

    Regards
  • Anyone any idea what we should do about the annual fee charges that have been charged without her having a credit card!!
