Hi there
I am hoping someone can help. I am in the process of trying to reclaim over £400 of charges from Capital One. I sent off the usual templete letter requesting a full refund. Received a letter back with an offer of £32!!!! Of course I am rejecting this but the bit i'm unclear off is that some of the charges were for £12 and I remember reading this was an agreed amount. Has anyone successfully managed to claim back £12 charges???
Any info and advice would be very helpful
thanks0 -
Capital One will only refund if you involve the FOS or file a money claim on line (court).
And yes you can claim the £12 charges back.DS1 12/10/04
DS2 13/07/06
DD1 06/12/070 -
Thanks. I'll get FOS involved for Capital One. I have also recentley sent away a claim to FOS because SkyCard (Barclayscard) refuse to refund £612 worth of charges saying £12 is the correct agreed amount. I am hoping now I have involved the FOS i'll get the full amound refunded???0

if they play up after this, you can do a court claim (which will charge a feee up front, this can be added to your claim- BUT you really need a water tight case to be worth ip..)
, or go via the FOS- there is a lengthy, but straight forward form on their site, which takes you step by step.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Hello I hope someone out there can shed some advise on this for us.
We sent the 1st claim back letters with interest to Capital One for 2 accounts for my OH.
Yesterday he recieved a letter offering a partial settlement - they have offered £154.00 the difference between the £20.00 and the £12.00 charges plus £10.00 back in interest. Actual amount claimed £296.21 - Outstanding on card £373.00
The other account they have offered £210.00 the difference in the £12.00 to £20.00 plus the £10.00 interest. Actual amount claimed £731.82 Outstanding on card £1295.00
They have also included an acceptance letter for him to sign for both and send back to them.
They advise they do not own the debt anymore. They had said that they will send the information to Lowell (who now apparently own the debt) in order that Lowell reduce it. They state "Now we have sold your account" too.
He is also trying to get the PPI back from both cards too.
Where should we go from here?? Send a second letter advising that we are requiring the full amount. What happens with Lowells they are an awful company to deal with regarding the balance.
Any help would be really appreciated.0 -
if you feel offers are not high enough, continue with 2nd letter-
send direct to capital one; copy in lowell if you want to..Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
