I'm still waiting for mine to be sorted. I filed on the 6th and they now have 28 days. Do you think it would be an idea to give cap 1 a ring and see what is happening ????
I sent the first letter in on 17/11 so should be sorted soon0 -
Eddylass i can see your on...... some wise words of your wisdom would be greatly received.
Its now nearly time up for cap 1.... so what should i do now ?????
Just given Cap1 a quick ring and spoke to legal team..... looks like they settling wooooohoooo!!!!
Waiting for call back. Gees i'm happy this is nearly at an end. Its really worrying even tho you know your going to get it back lol0 -
Sorry I missed your post, make sure anything you "settle" on the phone is confirmed in writing before you say yes and that it is an offer you are happy with!0

Thanks Eddy Lass, but i think i was a pit premature. They said " we have another week so we'll send you a offer in the post" which i thought was nice :-/0

Hi guys n gals
I recently tried to claim my credit card charges back, they only came to about £250 since i had them but still I think its better in my pocket than theirs. I used the letters given as templates on this site and received a letter back from Capital One stating that they have refunded me £16 to my account. Pathetic eh?
So I sent the second letter to them and have received their reply today. They basically say they are confident their fee's are both fair and legal and I can go to the courts if I wish.
What are my options now? Is it to try and take them through court or give up? I'm planning on closing my account and paying off my balance in full next month anyway cos as a company they are ridiculous. But it would have been nice to have had to pay £250 less next month is all haha.
Thanks in advance for any comments.

Go to FOS, it doesn't cost anything, but as it's a complaint against the bank this gets notched up and probably once they received contact from the FOS, they may see that YOU'RE serious about Court etc.
One other thing were you're charges the £12 variety or the higher version? Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -
They were £20 for a bit then went down to £12, i think the £16 refund was the difference so it looks like i had 2 charges at £20 then it went down.
How would i go about talkin to the FOS then?
and has anyone else got anything back from Capital One yet?0 -
Well...... I won !!!!
£645 and a bit of change back thank you very much. I did like the letter they sent tho basically saying what they are doing is right, nothing wrong in charging what they do lol.
thanks everyone especially Eddy Lass.... your a star0 -
I recently tried to claim my charges back and got to the stage where I had sent the second letter and received a letter back stating they are standing by their decision and to take them to court.
Is that the best bet then? To threaten to do that and see what happens? I just dunno if i can be bothered actually going to court. Does it ever come to that?0 -
I have sent a letter claiming charges from both my husband and I for our accounts with capital one and they have not replied to either. It has been about 2 months.
Do I write the same letter out again ? Advice please.
