Foot note to my last post,
I had a customer in this morning who was measured 3 weeks ago and told that her dress would be ordered the same day. We rang the suppliers and the dress was not on order!! There was NO order logged with the designers for that dress from BGG.
So where did her deposit go?0 -

I can answer that for you and I'm no brain surgeon but that money went in their A$$ pockets!

I've got a feeling that's the case with mine. If I find out it definitely wasn't then I'm asking for confirmation in writing then I'm going to report them for fraud!0

So Luckyrusty tell me how it is fair that the brides will gain a half price dress, TBGG will gain the 50% deposit (straight in their pockets), as you all speculate to be profit, yet the shops offering to step in and help out have to bear the brunt of the over heads to cover the appointments for brides needing our help......Because I can bet you no single bride would be happy to just collect without trying on a dress they are then paying out hundreds of £'s for.
In what world is that fair on us bridal shop owners trying our best to ensure we are also still here for when our own bride's dresses are to be delivered.
We have a responsibility to our brides to ensure we are still in business, if we are messing around for free to help out brides that didn't originally choose to buy from us, how can we ensure we will still be available to our brides!!!
Why would you buy a dress costing £1k without insurance if you were booking a holiday would you not also buy insurance?
Some people simply did not take out insurance, they probably did not think they would need it. As for the question on using your time, your premises and your staff, the answer is simple. Don't help!! Nobody is forcing you to help and there are plenty of people willing to help who do not look at this situation as 'brides getting their dresses for half price'. Customers of TBGG are upset and distraught and as you cannot undersstand their bad fortune, back away and leave them to the people who want to help without complaining. Nobody is asking you to, as you say 'mess around for free to help out brides who did not originally choose to buy from you'. The people who are helping consider this help to be something they choose to offer out of the goodness of their hearts.
There is no point in going over and over this, you obviously have a very different view to others offering help and that is fine. In order to close this part of the thread I will leave it at that and will choose not to repond to anymore direct questions regarding this. May I suggest that you leave this here now and then people can continue try to obtain their gowns and help where required.0 -
"Nobody is asking you to"
Would you like to come and answer my phone to the endless stream of distraught brides then.......... I have already helped several and they are very gratefull0 -
Their bank accounts will have been frozen from the minute liquidators got appointed and if they are found to have emptied the bank accounts then they will be prosecuted. They will also be prosecuted if it transpires that they continued trading when they knew there was no way back0

On the insurance note not everyone knows you can get wedding insurance. I certainly didn't when I booked my photographer, venue and cars, in fact it wasn't until someone brought it up on here that I actually knew that wedding insurance existed.
Although I am not a bride to be who has had dealings with BGG I have been reading all the posts on here and would like to say I feel for all the brides who are uncertain about wether or not they will be getting their dream dresses and have no idea where their money is. I hope you all get it all sorted as quick as possible and that you all have a beautiful day.0 -
I have just come home to a letter from The Bridal Gallery. OMG! I had no idea and their letter starts 'As you maybe aware' if i was aware I would not have ordered a dress and paid 50% for it 3 weeks ago.
Now who knows what will happen. I have emailed them and tried to call their shops but surprisingly no answer or a dead line.
I get married in March so will have to try and get another dress but also try and get my money back.
If as someone posted earlier they knew in July how could they possible by still taking money from brides. How low can you get I think they should be done for fraud and spend time in prison0 -
