TOG - you've gone now, but when I hit Run Scan, below this small box, quickly runs this sequence:
Start-up items
RAM info
Disk drive info
Tasklist
-but nothing else happens.

Also, when I closed down last night, the [often seen] 'end program' box appeared, with a string of mandarin characters for the name of the 'non-responsive' program.
It eventually shut down normally.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

is the router plugged into the master socket, do you have extensions?
Phone socket, not power, or sewing machine pedals.
bizarre thread, Xmas soon
Your sync speed is crap (2.27Mb/s), therefore your download speed will be crapper (1.97Mb/s) due to overheads, nothing you can do apart from sort out your internal wiring, and reboot your modem. (and fix your tv/aerial)
If you have a phone extension http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/socket.htm
if you are no longer using one of these
uninstall the software for it.
if your router has been on for 16 days, power it off for 5 minutes, it may speed up
What test with "Andrea" gave you 7.5/8Mb/s?!!

Good morning TOG-
I'll be in and out again. but seeing your green light is on, hope you can advise next step.
Do I 'select all' in the small pop-up SINO box before running scan?
If you want to get this and your Freeview fixed, there's a lot of good techies on here willing to devote the time and effort to help you but you need to follow simple, plain English instructions carefully and to the letter - you don't need any technical knowhow to do that.
You asked, "Do I select all?"
This is what I actually posted earlier:Toxteth_OGrady wrote: »- Then please check the following checkboxes:
Ipconfig Ping
- Once checked, hit the Run Scan! button and wait for the program to finish the scan.
- A notepad window will pop up. Please copy all of the content into your next reply.
IPCONFIG and PING, the 1st and 2nd checkboxes in the right hand Network column are all you need to select!!!
Again, not wishing to dishearten you but you need to help us to help you.
btw - how long does it take to start a new thread about your Freeview problem?604!0 - Then please check the following checkboxes:
