Ok,well...i need to have a little whinge because things are getting me down a bit.

Originally we were going with our 2 daughters and my fiances mum and dad...sadly i lost my mum 4 years ago and my dad is finding getting around more and more difficult so decided going to Zante with us wasn't for him and helped us pay for some of it instead bless him. But now my fiances parents are not going to come and it's literally just us and our 2 girls. We have no witnesses. My fiance wants to get married in a casual shirt and shorts, tha's absolutely fine by me he can wear whatever he is comfy in,but i have got a 'proper' wedding dress and now think it's not really worth it as nobody is going to be there. We're not having a 'do' before or after as i don't like to have any fuss, but i'm wondering if i should have gone for a casual dress. Our daughters haven't got 'proper' bridesmaid dresses i just saw 2 lovely flowery dresses in Sainsburys where i work and got those and they love them and can wear them again.

I don't think i'm having my hair done for the wedding as it's expensive and don't see the point. I don't feel excited and i should :(

Aw I'm sorry it's not going quite as you had planned, don't forget the dress is about you not anyone else, wear it and enjoy it its your special day nomatter who is there.

Maybe you could arrange a meal out with some family and friends when you get back - low key but a nice way to celebrate
Recently married and loving it x

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well - only 3 (ish) months to go!

Sorry to hear about some of the dress issues - hope everyone sorted out new outfits where they wanted to. I started having some doubts about my dress, but I'm wondering whether this is just normal? In any case, can't be bothered to go shopping again now :D

Lilmissworry - has your dress search gone ok? Sorry to hear about your families, but hope you can still look forward to some time away with you partner and daughters. I remember Zante being beautiful when I went there a few years back, although I don't recommend too many nights out in Laganas - the bars get a bit messy :D

Twod - that's awesome work on the photographer - :money:would be proud! :)

Sounds like everyone is busy preparing - it all seems like a lot more real now! Me and the OH have done most of the 'big' stuff but were worried that we were missing the smaller stuff. Sat down yesterday to write a list - turns out we were! :D

Sorry to hear you're feeling down and have got so much on your mind. I just felt I had to comment, as your post made me feel quite sad. Like you say, you're not feeling excited, but I can totally understand why.

We didn't want a big do, just a small simple wedding which consisted of us 2, my parents and his Mam at Gretna Green. We would have just ran away to Vegas and got married by Elvis, but I couldn't have done it without my parents there, and I'm just wondering if that's why you're feeling so down about the whole thing, because really you'd like your Dad and your future in laws to be there?

Is your wedding all booked in Zante? Do you definetly want it there? Would you not consider having it in the UK and then honeymoon in Zante?

I just want to say, whatever you do decide to do, I'm sure it'll be perfect for you and your OH, and all the best to you and yours x

(Sorry for butting into your thread October brides, I got married on June 24th but still like looking in the Weddings section :o )

Leese815....i am sticking to my 'proper' dress,i really do love it. I know Laganas....my fiance and i went there when we were first together over 20 years ago and it did get messy :) One of the reasons we have decided to get married in Zante is because we went when we were young and it seems apt to get married there...only had that one holiday together and a couple of years later we split up for 17 years!!!!!!

Georgiegirl 256.....you're probably right,i would like them there but it is all booked and i am looking forward to it in alot of ways. We have found out that my fiances cousin is going over there same sort of time as us so we may have her and her husband there with us yet.

I found out today that my best friend of 17 years has died so i believe we have to do things while we can and whatever feels right for us....who knows what is round the corner.

Good for you, Sounds lovely. Zante is beautiful, I went there with my ex and we stayed in Laganas twice eeek but the Island itself is stunning and will be so special for the two of you. I agree that you have to live for the moment.

I am marrying for the second time and have just had a wake up to realise that it is not long away - I promised myself to lose a stone so that the dress, which is upstairs, fits. Work and health have been really bad which is why I have hardly been on here and indulged in comfort food - oops - I am going to have to find the most amazing pair of Bridget Jones knickers.

Hope everyone is ok and plans are going well.

So sorry to hear about your best friend :( A friend of mine lost his partner a couple of weeks ago, just out of the blue, total shock, so I totally agree with what you say.

That'll be lovely if your fiances cousin and husband are going to be there. :)

Sounds like a really tough time, lilmissworry :( but hope the wedding and a relaxing trip to Zante are something to look forward to - sounds like you have lots of happy memories from there so it's lovely that you can link the start of your relationship with the marriage and the beginning of a new phase :o

Wannabe - sorry to hear that you have been having a stressful time as well, but good luck on the dress front! :o

  • Hi,

I love a thrifty wedding. I got married what seems likes ages ago, and only yesterday, but whenever a friend gets married I practically barge their door down trying to help.
Has everyone heard of bespoke bride - that's one of my favs - also pinterest is great for DIY ideas.

Thanks leese, In the grand scheme of things I'm clearly very lucky, thinking of you lilmissworry, If the worst comes to the worst I can slimfast and breathe in.

Just realised that there are a few invites we have not sent out yet and we must sit and sort out the small bits. Is it really only 3 mths?!
