I'm an October 2013 bride and was worried it was just me! This is my second marriage (I'm putting the first one down to a trial/ practise run for the real thing heehee).
So far the venueis booked and I have got my dress yay.
Desperately trying to find a photographer that doesn't require the need to sell a kidney!!
Hi Wannabe, We are really lucky that a friend of ours is doing the photos for us, we will prob pay for his hotel room and get him a gift but thats noting compared to a friend at work who is paying £1000 for the photography and £500 for the album, I didn't realise they cost that much!!
Our friend is going to give us a CD with them on and will get them printed at the place he uses if we want but not sure if we will be able to get it all done straight after because even at cost it will cost quite a lotRecently married and loving it x0 -
Hi wannabee, I am a second timer as well :T lol.
Nightsky - not sure about invitations yet. I too did my own save the date cards which we have sent out. Not sure about invitations though as I am so fussy and all the ones I have seen I don't like. :rotfl:0 -
Congratulations all of you! :T
Another October bride, although until last week I was a February one!Last minute hiccup and very expensive reschedule and we are now all good to go for October 07, 2013. The upside is that everything is organised.
Second time around for me, first time for my intended. We are combining the wedding with a family holiday and taking his family out to Orlando, Florida. Wouldn't be my first choice but his parents, brother, sil and niece are so excited that the magic has rubbed off. The absolute icing is that one of my daughters is now able to come, together with a few of my family in the US and Canada so it's all working out great.
Had the final fitting for my dress, just have to stay exactly the same shape for 10 months. That will be a challenge! Got the dress from ebay for £90 - stunning and near perfect fit. Shop cost was £1200
Got shoes from Debenham's sale for £26 (the day we found out we had to cancel )
Not having rings because I love the specially designed ring I got for my 50th and can't imagine wearing another one.
Groom, Best Man, Father of Groom in kilts. His niece will be flower girl (age 6).
Because it was all to be low key, we were just having music via iPod and might still do that but as the numbers increase I might have to put a bit more effort in! I think I'll walk down the aisle to Highland Cathedral. Other than that got a lot of thinking to do..
Still seems a long way off....0 -
Hi!
So..not quite officially the October bride yet as that depends on my meeting with the priest next week! But wanted to say 'hello' to everyone anyway!
For personal reasons Me and OH have moved our wedding plans forward a couple of years and are very keen for this October to be the special month. As I am religious I'm putting the need for a Church ceremony first and foremost before anything else, which is why until I know the date everything else is not shifting anywhere!
I have a strong feeling my Church may be free for the wedding ceremony, which I personally would love to be early October weekend but for now all I can do is hope! Please wish us good luck! We'll hopefully find the date out next week. :j
(Then I can actually officially post more in this topic instead of watching on the sidelines):rotfl:0 -
Hi everyone!
I got a bit distracted by life (and wedding!) stuff throughout December, so glad to come back and see lots more October people have found the thread, woohoo!
It's good to see that everyone is getting along well with planning, and finding plenty of wedding bargains
Roseyscott - I agree that it seems to be coming round really quickly. Before Christmas, October felt ages away, but now that we're in January I'm starting to worry I'll run out of time!
OllysMum - sorry to hear that it was a last minute reschedule, but good to hear that the plans are working out now.
SavvyOoze - fingers crossed that your church has a free weekend!
We still haven't got too far with the planning - but we've definitely done lots of thinking and talking! We weren't originally planning on having an official photographer, but so many people have advised us to go for it, especially those friends who have regretted not having one. It feels like a lot of expense, but I think it's the right decision.
I've also bitten the bullet and ordered a dress. I'm a bit nervous as I had to order it online without trying it on first - it's custom made so there's no returns policy! _pale_ I wouldn't usually do something so reckless, but it's a non-traditional dress so I could find anything similar anywhere else. Keep your fingers crossed for me£2 Saver's Club 2012 #2370 -
Hi ladies sorry have been quiet but been away for a bit but back now. Been a productive month though ordering my dress, buying the table number holders and have finally picked our invitations, so all slowly coming together :T
Leese have my fingers crossed for your dress0 -
Hi ladies!
I'm not even officially engaged yet, but have booked the wedding for sat 5th October. I'm just waiting on my ring now, but we have decided on a venue (and booked it ) - £300. Meeting with my friends who run an events management business on Saturday and they will arrange DJ, bar, decorations etc.
Going to have a chat with some caterers soon too.
Got a dress in monsoon sale for £59 and will be making my own invites, place cards, etc. will also try to make my own flowers.
Our minister will hopefully do the ceremony and our friends from church will do some ceremony music.
I'm having 2...maybe 3 bridesmaids. Not decided on colours yet.
Can't wait xxAll you need is less0 -
Hi
I'm an October bride too :-) Wedding booked for 3 October - in Cyprus. Feeling quite relaxed at the moment, dress is ordered, bridesmaid dresses bought (Debenhams sale), grooms outfit bought (all reduced in the sales), sure I will start to panic soon, as it all seems to be going to smoothly...to good to be true?! I think it's because there isn't actually that much we need to do, as can order extras when we get there. I've just ordered some place cards off ebay, and am looking into favours and a gift for our page boy and best man...which seems to be quite difficult as don't want anything too big / heavy as we need to pack them...any ideas gratefully recieved.
Hope everyone else's plans are coming together :-)0 -
Hello to weesmiler and k88aab - welcome aboard!
Sounds like you're both organised types as well - I'm impressed! And with all the dreary weather recently, Cyprus sounds particularly appealling :-)
K88aab - how about some nice (maybe personalised) cufflinks for the pageboy and best man? They would certainly be easy to pack, if nothing else!
Still feeling a bit nervous about my rash dress choice, but there's no going back now! What's the worst that could happen? ;-)
Having realised that we're getting married in a seasside town slap bang between the two half-term weeks (who's bright idea was that?!?) we thought we should get a wiggle on and sort out some accommodation for the wedding party. We don't want to end up staying in Fawlty Towers :-) Planning on booking that this week. Also pleased to report that SIL-to-be from hell has partially redeemed herself by sorting out MrLeese815's family's accommodation. Now if she could just leave it there we'd all be happy :-D£2 Saver's Club 2012 #2370 -
Hello, I too am an October bride. I chose the 13th as I thought 13.10.2013 had a nice ring to it. Also, it's out of season and very MSE. Venue and registrar have been booked but not much else. Just started dress shopping, very exciting but daunting. Leese185 which site did you order your dress from? I was considering buying online too but need recommendations.
It's nice to share with other October brides to be, I hope all of your plans are coming along nicely0
