You could go to try it on after an evening of excitement picking out matching accessories only to find out that the lovely squiggly sequin design across the midsection bore a more than passing resemblance to a certain part of the male anatomy?!

Hi all! Another October wedding for the list (the 3rd) but we're sneaking off to Vegas so don't have very much to worry about- apart from dressticles!

Welcome! And....oh no! Although I have to admit to having a little chuckle at the concept of 'dressticles' ;)

I guess it's difficult to unsee something once you have seen it. Will you try and change the sequins or embrace the dressticles? :D

    Hi folks,

My wedding is 20 weeks on Saturday! Eek!

I hope everyone is getting on well with their plans! I had a minor hiccup with my dad trying to invite 7 of his friends (who I have never met)...there was a bit of a fight, but it's sorted now.

I also got my shoes, just plain Mary Jane style ones from next. Got a gorgeous ivory angora shrug from monsoon in the sale. Going shopping next week with the 2 bridesmaids to get them dresses and shoes hopefully!

Starting to wish I had run away to Gretna.....:p

    How is everyone doing?

Finally happy that things are moving forward for us. After a slow start we've finally now:

    -Booked photographer
    -Booked videographer
-Finalised food menu and reception times
    -Wine/spirits chosen
-Marriage prep classes will finish this weekend and we'll be able to arrange a second meeting with the priest to do a more in-depth ceremony discussion.
    - Invitations were a bit of a headache with UK customs as we bought them from the US but that's sorted now and we've sent the first batch of invites out to our international guests.
-Finally chose our bridesmaid, groomsmen etc!
    -Favours sorted
    - Table menus ready for print

    Things to sort:
-We've got the perfect florist on our list, we don't want to book yet as there's no rush yet (right?!) but they seemed pretty good and reasonable. We'll go with them nearer the time for church pew, buttonholes, bouquets.
-Going for an M&S wedding cake so will order a month before wedding.
-Still got OH's wedding ring to buy, need to head to Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter soon.
-Need to get my wedding band resized!
    -Bridesmaid dresses
    -Ushers' outfits
    -MY DRESS...!!!
    - Hair & make up!
    - Manicure!
    -Thinking of getting eyelash extensions
    -Shoes!
-Reception Music list...which I'm delaying as it's SO time consuming at the moment.
    - Table plan
    - Church music
    - Ceremony programme booklet
    - Transport to restaurant (Dad sorting)
    - After-party dress!

So...as you can see, this is a more detailed list to my previous one, trust me to think this was going to be simple!:rotfl:

Go you that sounds great. We are stuck on Ushers outfits too. We looked at Youngs, Burtons and Moss Bross as have ushers around the country. We preferred Moss Bross but they don’t have the right colour cravats. To be honest we weren’t crazy with any of them. We happened to pop in to a local independent suit shop on Saturday and the guy suggested that he has people all around the country that can measure etc. He was really busy so couldn’t talk. My OH is popping in there today to find out more. What are you looking at going with?

Recent things ticked off my list
Taken my dress to be altered, lovely woman can’t wait to see it when it’s done.
We have now bought the flower girl dresses from BHS 1/2 price £20 each very pleased.
Invites made and will be sent out this week - Total cost £30, will post a pic on the DIY bit as quite proud, they are very simple but am really not creative at all so big achievement.

Met and booked a woman yesterday who will decorate the venue . I have decided that I would like chair covers but they are quite expensive £2.50 per chair for 90 chairs (includes fittings etc hessian bow and a flower for the middle of the bow.) Is anyone else having chair covers?

To Do (a couple of the many many things)
Find outfit for 11yo usher (all suit hire places charge a fortune) We would like him to wear the same colour cravat as the adult ushers but its quite difficult. BHS do suits to buy that have a waistcoat and cravat that match the bridesmaids but total cost will be £80!!!!

Find some shoes for me - I don't like the normal wedding shoes really (esp the diamante ones) they are just not really me I want something a bit different.

Hope its all going well for everyone, scary how soon it now is!!
Recently married and loving it x

Well,i have decided that i don't like my wedding dress atall....got it from e bay and it's not flattering,it doesn't make me feel pretty atall and i wouldn't look forward to wearing it. So,that's on e bay and i'm trying to decide on something else but just don't know what to do. I think i'm convinced nothing is going to suit me now :( i should go to bridal shops but have nobody to go with me and they're so expensive. So......not great. Hope everyone else is getting on ok :)

@weesmiler Glad you found another dress quickly!

@lilmissworry I'm sorry it didn't work out and hope you find an even more beautiful dress, if it helps and you're within midland reach the wedding outlet mentioned below could be worth checking.

Last weekend was my first time with my mum heading to the bridal shops, I thought I had plenty of time left but the minute I told the lady working in the bridal store when the wedding was she gave me the look of sheer panic and told me I had left it very late as the dresses took 3-4 months to order in and at least a month for alteration? She also told me if I was to order in time I would have to by this week latest. Got the same look and speech from the next couple of bridal stores I went into.

How on Earth as new bride am I suppose to know that?! I admit I don't fuss too much on reading into wedding planning and how in advance it needs sorting but surely there are others like me who don't get too giddy over the planning and details.

The dresses I looked at were lovely and I fell in love with a Mori Lee 1914 but I couldn't justify the spend so headed home feeling panicky at the short space of time left. My only option was try find somewhere nearby (as no local stores do off-the-peg) and buy off the peg this week to give 4 months to do any alterations rather than just 1 month or by this week go ahead and spend the £1200+ ordering the dress, stressing for 3 months whether the dress would arrive on time and factor in A MONTH only for alterations.

I went home deflated and was on a certain social networking website when eerily one of them sponsored pages came up with Wedding Dress Factory outlet. I never look at any sponsored pages even if they're to do with weddings but I did this time and turns out its was the best move ever. The outlet is based one in London and one in Midlands in Burbage, Leicestershire with over 700 dresses in each shop, the best part of it was the fact dresses were from £149 to a max of £449 and no appointment system so you could just pop in anytime. Sadly they only opened Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday 10am-3pm, so I planned with my mum to head up there Sunday. Turns out my DAD tagged along too which was quite funny.

Was quite skeptical that dresses priced under £449 would look stunning/quality but I thought I'd have a look anyway! Went to the outlet and oh my, so many dresses! So many styles! And many of these dresses were incredibly only £299.

Long story short, I found 'the one', a one-off type of dress in their store, a Sophia Tolli dress called Tiffany for £399! Paid deposit and picking it up this weekend, they're keeping it to do a quick overall check and quickly wipe the very slight make-up marks of other women who have tried the dress on (price you pay for off-peg but i'm not fussed!)...so now I'm an extremely happy bunny! To top it off, we met with my brothers at a shopping centre and managed to buy their suits (they're my ushers) and Dad's .Got busy the past weekend and also got my wedding ring resized and booked my florist appointment for this Saturday so should hopefully put an order in that day! So that's quite a few things I can tick off!

    Panic over!

    Good luck ladies!
