i am very impatient and on tender hooks whenever i hear the post drop through my letterbox-they must owe me thousands and hoping to recieve all of it back!!
would love to hear of anyone elses cases regarding abbey-eg the success rate of being paid and how long it may take!!!
I only sent off for my statements on friday but like you I am very impatient, can't wait to get them so I can work out how much of my hard earned cash they have taken off me. I called them recently regarding charges on my account and they were so rude that I have decided to do something about it. I'm nervous and excited at the same time it's wierd. Please let us know when you get your statements and good luck to everyone.January GC £38.35/£1500 -

Hi My daughters claim to Abbey has reached the "4 weeks wait" stage, so we are continuing with the "if we do not hear within 7 days we will start court proceedings letter". We sent the first request to her local branch but the reply came from banking Specialist team in Milton keynes. Where do we send the reply to?0

If it any help I sent my ongoing claim back to my branch. I think they must have forwarded on the letter via internal mail. I have sent EVERYTHING by recorded post simply because it prevents the "its been lost in the post" scenario. Good luck0 -
Thanks for that, that is what I thought. I also always send by recorded post0

Abbey had until this friday 9th march to file their defence,as we closed our account 2years ago we have not had any offers of goodwill payments.Today out of the blue an offer of half the amount arrived in the post so we rang Abbey in London to say thankyou but no thankyou. The guy at Abbey was very nice but tried to tell us he was doing us a favour and that basically he was trying to help us !! that court is a scary place and they wanted to resolve the matter.I suggested a great way to solve it would be to pay up the full amount as we would settle for nothing less.He had a laugh and said he would be in touch or we could ring him with an offer. My parting comment was see you in court. This is the first real contact we have had with them and i enjoyed every minute, for the first time it feels like we are in the driving seat not them. They are trying to scare people into settling for a lesser amount Dont Do It stick to your guns i'm sure we will all win:rolleyes:0

Here are some of my experiences so far regarding re-claiming charges from from Abbey, to help anyone else. Then after I have a question.
1. Before I found this site I rang Abbey to ask for my bank statements going back six years and was told; "there is a charge of £6.50 for each statement that is archived". Then I found this site and discovered it is only £10 for all of them. I did not pay them £6.50 as I found this site the next day.
2. I paid Abbey the £10 and sent the template letter asking for my statements. Way over the 40 days I heard nothing and then found out Abbey had cashed my £10 and then put the same £10 back into my account.
3. They wrote and apologised, so I then had to send another £10 and wait another 40 days.
So this bank has a box of tricks, to play with.
Now I have sent them my charges and have asked for my money back. They have just replied saying "they are investigating my complaint and this will take time, maybe up to eight weeks". But they will write to me in four weeks time to let me know what is happening. Do I wait for all this or do I push forward and take them to court now? Please advise.
Abbey almost made me homeless with spiralling out of control charges. But this is what is going on in their heads, I quote; "High quality customer service is of great importance to us at Abbey":rotfl:0
