My First post here after lurking and reading for the past few days
a few days ago i sent both of my letters asking for my last six years of bank statements one to abbey the other to hsbc even though that one is for a closed account
I'm very excited and aprehensive about the amount of charges and i understand that most of the charges acumulated were my fault- at 23 i should have a better grasp of my finances but the charges pushed me deeper into debt
I'm hoping that i am made an offer i dont wish to fight for the full amount im just hoping for enough to make a dent in some of my debt :-)
Wish me luck every one 37 days and counting for my statements to come back0 -

Good luck with your claim, but just remember dont accept a small offer from the banks as at the end of the day the money is YOURS and the bank charges are ILLEGAL.
I am only 21 and I have claimed for myself, friends and family. Its not too difficult especially with the help you can get from fellow mse peeps and also help from the CAG forums."He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
He will kill your cat and nail him to the door"

In a very similar position, I'm counting down too even marked the expiry date for the 40 days they have to sent my statements (March 31st) I too am nervous and apprehensive. Hope we can help each other especially as we're at the same stage to reclaim our charges . I'm estimating around £2,000 is owed but wouldn't be surprised if it's higher.0 -
The same here actually
I will be claiming from both abbey and hsbc i have worked out just the past year of abbey charges and it totals around £500:eek:
Obviously i dont want to get my hopes up too much at all
luckily i also dont have an overdraft on either of my accounts so i'm not currently in debt with either of the accounts so im hoping that any money that i am able to reclaim will go towards paying off my debts
A quick question as i have been looking around the site i couldnt quite find the answer
I have a closed bank account with hsbc which is one that i will be claiming charges for, however i also have a managed loan account with hsbc i presume as these are both seperate things that any money i get back wont automatically be taken off the managed loan account ?0 -
Hi Received my letter from MCOL today confirming Abbey are defending. On the same day I received a letter from Abbey today saying they had not had any letters from me detailing the charges and interest.
Of course, they have! As they have written to me in response to my letters. Should I send them again as this letter did come from a different address or are they "at it" again?
Has anyone yet been to court with Abbey or have they always withdrawn at the eleventh hour?
Getting a little nervous I may actually have to go to court!
Thanks

I have noticed that not many of you savy savers have made claims from abbey is that because not many of you have accounts with them or that they are mega hard to get your money back from? the cheeky beggers charge my £50 every couple of months whether my account goes overdrawn by 5p or £25 just because my partener cheque has not cleared and a DD comes out!! i want my hard earned money back!!0

I have nearly all my statements for the last 3 years in a box and don't think i recived any charges before that so could i just use them or do you always have to send the DPA letter before sending the 1st letter? i would really love to get the ball rollling before abbey get some trick to stop paying out
thank you0 -
