  • Hi AngieW did you send them the £10?
  • Hi Mouseymousey99,
Thanks For Replying So Quickly, Yes I Did Send A Cheque For The Money, but As Yet They Havent Cashed It(i Just Rechecked Online), Not Sure What My Next Move Is Now. I Posted It On The 8th Feb And I Got Statements 26th.
  • Sounds like NatWest, who send them out in batches
  • First of all, I'm not the spelling police, but learn where capitals go! :-)

The 40 days they have to supply all the info started ticking on day you sent them cheque so they still have a bit of time left, you might want to phone them though and remind them that they dont have long left
  • I have my letter ready to send to Abbey to reclaim just over £4000. I have been gathering as much information as I can from this site and intend to visit the CAG site to gather more so that I feel well prepared.
There dont seem to be many success stories with the Abbey, are they more difficult to deal with than other banks?
I would really appreciate reading about peoples experiences with the Abbey.
Many thanks to everyone for the info I have gathered so far.

I think I've made a boob , sent first letter off yesterday but wrote "Abbey "only on cheque. I've a feeling they'll return it saying it's not got the full name(even though it's easy to write it on) to delay the claim.

Who have you been making the cheque out to , Abbey National/Abbey Ltd....?

Like a few others on this forum, I am also awaiting to hear back after filing MCOL. Had the statutory letter saying they will defend their claim and needed back up of how the charges were worked out. Sent them copies of previous letters yet again and excel spreadsheets via recorded delivery. They have got until the 5th March, so will keep you posted.
Good luck everyone, don't forget it's our money and we are going to get it back !!!

Had same letter today should I send them a copy of the first two letters I sent them already?
Could someone give a a rough idea on what to write in this letter please
  • Hi could someone help, i'm just about to send second letter reclaiming charges, do i claim for interest incurred after they charge me, say £32 for failed dd or cleared transaction, i looked through my statements and after every penalty charge, theres been interest debited from my account, is this due to the unlawfull charge, and do i claim it on top of the penalty charge for that date, then apply 8% interest?
    thx
  • I have sent Abbey a 7 day letter and they responded by asking for 4 weeks to look into this matter. 10 days later they have asked for a further 4 weeks. Are they just stalling? Do I have a legal oblgation to give them more time? Do I have to write back to them giving them notice agan that I am about to g to the small claims court?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • Hi,
Thanks for replying. Edinburghlass and jamalfatty. The bank im using is the Abbey.
I will keep counting the days, and if they dont send more statements next week i will give them a ring as you have suggested.
Oh thanks for making me aware of my capital misuse. My computer has a stupid setting on it that changes the first letter of words to capitals. You may have noticed i have taken it off.
