  • Hi, I have a question.

From 2003 to 2006 i was a student with a stident bank account, with the abbey.

I only have 8 statements at the moment , but from those statements they have taken over £1000 off me in about an 8 month period, i was with them for three years, so god knows what they have actually taken in total.

I was wondering, if there would be a problem with my account and claiming back the charges owed, because it was a student account - does anyone know of any problems with this.

Also reading through the forums, i havent noticed any abbey success stories, are there any out thee -or is it that abbey are being the most difficult about things?

    Would appreciate advice:D

    Thanks

    Hello again.....

I think i have messed up , I hand delivered my letter on 19th Feb, to my local Abbey to tell them they had 7 days before I took them to court. However, today I have received a letter dated 20th Feb saying they have carried out a full investigation blah blah and basically I can forget it. Should I resend my letter of 19th Feb by recorded or should I proceed to the next step ?

Gee, it was easier having a 36 hour labour rather than dealing with Abbey:rotfl:

i would proceed to the next step as getting a reply means they have read and acknowledged your letter

in response to the previous post,i would say it makes no difference what account it was, they charged you so you should be able to claim it back.
go through the sending letters steps and see what they come back with
  • I have requested 6 years statements from the Abbey. On an average (you may have read from previous posts £164 per month.........) Just under 12K.

The £10 fees paid from a n other source. I know the 1st 4 years of years of my current account were charge free, however, life, divorce, kids etc etc get in the way, and I know they owe me at least half that.

Moved account now. Nothing to lose !!!!!!!!!!!

They have had my money, and the interest.......... I now want it back.

    39 days and counting.............

  • Have recieved only some of my statements not full 6 years worth, 40 days isnt up yet, do i wait or get in touch requesting the rest of statements or just find out if they have been sent. Who do i call does any one know the telephone number.
  • you need to just wait for the rest to turn up and if they havent arrived within the 40 day deadline then you need to report them to the fso.

When I initially requested my statements in Dec the Abbey sent a normal copy of my statements for the last year only within about a week. It took about a month for the first five years to come through, they dont look like normal statements but cheapo printouts.
  • Quick question.......
I sent off the letter asking for money back and then sent of the 7 days before I would start court action letter. I have received a partial payment of £470. I want to write and say that I will accept this as part payment but intend to continue the process. What address shall I send this to ??
  • Hi guys I recieved 2 letters from Abbey today
    1) saying they will be submitting a defence to court and asking me for more info

    2) The second was offering me half of my claim to settle out of court.

I called the number on the 2nd letter and told them that I was not happy about the amount and the girl said she would put it through to management for further investigation and they will get back to me.

Just shows the more pressure you give them the further they investigate!

Who knows they may come back with more!:

If not I'll c them in court!
