I am scared! Abbey refused to pay back the £1,940 after the letters and list of charges ( they offered £330 as a 'goodwill gesture' which I refused). When I went through the on-line courts I added on the interest, as allowed through the courts. Abbey then wrote asking how this had all been calculated. I again sent them the list of charges with the interest calculated and they have now defended the whole claim and it is going to court. It is now scary! I am just hoping that they back down before it gets there and that they do not make an example of me.
Anyone have any idea why there are so few sucess stories regarding Abbey?0 -
1st of all, do not worry about the lack of sucess stories, no bank as yet has gone to court and successfully defended their charges. Chances are they will settle before the court date.0

I put in a claim for £1500 in December. I looked at my account yesterday and noticed a number of miscellaneous refund fees amounting to £480, I called the banking centre who advised me that as goodwill gesture from Abbey they have offered me £710 however only £480 has only reached my account because they say I have January charges and they have deducted this from the £710 pay out. Cheeky! Not sure whether to cut my losses and accept this or to go the whole hog? Bearing in mind out of a £1500 I only received £480. Not sure whether to accept this or go the whole way? Has anyone else experienced this or what would anyone else do out there?0

Carry on with the next stage and say that you will accept these refunds in partial payment but will be progessing to court for the full amount.0

I'm definitely doctoring the CAGs settlement letter and getting the rest.
I am in a similar situation to you,. I put in a claim for £1500 and got a goodwill geture of £480. Not sure what to do next as it was paid in my account and Im not sure whether to pursue further?0 -
Thank you for coming back to me. With me threatening to go further will it affect any other accounts etc that I may have with Abbey?0

Write to the bank and say..............
I cannot accept your offer of £480 as full and final settlement. I will accept this as part payment and without prejudice, but I will continue my claim for the balance..................
Then move onto the next stage of your claim.
If your other accounts are in good order. Your claim shouldn't affect them. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
